Episode #138
The Frank – Building The Hunting App
On this episode of the Hunting Connection Podcast, I’m joined by “The Frank”, who you might recognise from his guest appearances on other Australian hunting podcasts including The Hunters Campfire and Australian Hunting and Beyond. Frank, Rob from Athena Spatial, and veteran owned Map Based Apps have taken on the challenge of creating something pretty cool for Aussie hunters — The Hunting App. Made in Australia by Australian hunters, The Hunting App is designed specifically around hunting in the Aussie bush. It gives hunters offline mapping, GPS tracking, waypoints, hunt planning, topographic maps and the ability to mark camps, glassing spots, tracks, water, sign and more. It also includes the ability to upload NSW DPIRD hunting maps, Victorian DEECA hunting areas, licence storage, group hunt planning and plenty more, with the app available on both iOS and Android. (The Hunting App) In this episode Frank and I chat about his own journey into hunting, how The Hunting App came about, what they’re trying to build for Australian hunters, and of course we have plenty of laughs along the way. Hope you enjoy this one! Check out The Hunting App: thehuntingapp.com.au Use code HCP30 for your discount — valid until December 31st 2026.
