Episode #82
What Would Dolly Do?
Dear Dolly, This week on I Don’t Like That! , we’re doing things a little differently. After a quick catch-up on LA heat, Cuntry Club birthday chaos, pool parties and why venomous sea snakes have once again confirmed that WE DO NOT NEED TO GO TO THE BEACH , we’re dedicating this episode to the one and only Dolly Parton . There are celebrities. There are legends. There are icons. And then there’s Dolly. From growing up one of 12 children in a tiny cabin in the Smoky Mountains, to getting on a bus for Nashville the day after graduating high school, to becoming one of the most recognizable and beloved women in the world, Dolly did it all unapologetically, authentically and completely HER way. We look back at the songs, the movies, the rhinestones, Dollywood, the businesses, the incredible stories and the woman behind it all. But more importantly, we talk about her enormous heart. Her Imagination Library. Her commitment to literacy and education. The My People Fund. Her support of medical research. The millions generated by Whitney Houston’s legendary recording of “I Will Always Love You” and Dolly’s decision to invest some of that money back into a predominantly Black Nashville neighborhood, what she lovingly called “the house that Whitney built.” Dolly could have spent her life chasing the title of billionaire. Instead, she spent so much of it giving back. She showed us you could be glamorous AND smart. Sexy AND powerful. Ambitious without being cruel. Successful without forgetting where you came from. And yes, the boobs were BOOBING, the hair was HAIRING and there was never a rhinestone she didn’t understand. We finish the episode with our favorite Dolly quotes and, for once, there are NO “I Don’t Like That’s” this week. Nothing but love for our country queen. Make yourself a sweet tea and join us as we celebrate the extraordinary life, legacy, laughter, generosity and sparkle of Miss Dolly Parton. There will never be another Dolly. And God, were we lucky to have her. ✨ ️ I DON’T LIKE THAT! New episode out now. Support the show
