Life After Losing 120 Pounds: The Overwhelm of More Choices
After losing 120 pounds, I expected to feel more freedom. What I did not expect was how overwhelming it could feel to suddenly have so many more choices. In this episode, I’m answering a viewer’s question: Do I love having more options now that I am thinner — clothes, activities, travel — or does it feel overwhelming? My honest answer is both. I’m talking about the emotional side of major weight loss, including shopping for a changing body, learning what clothes feel like “me,” saying yes to activities I might have avoided before, traveling with more confidence, and realizing that my brain is still catching up with my body. This is not about being ungrateful. I am deeply thankful for the freedom and choices I have now. But I also think it is important to talk honestly about the adjustment period that can come after major weight loss, especially for women over 50 who may be entering an entirely new season of life. If you are on a weight loss journey, using GLP-1 medications, losing weight after 50, or adjusting to life after major weight loss, I hope this episode helps you feel less alone.
