Episode #2
Getting to the Centre of the Work: Katherine Mendelsohn on Dramaturgy and Theatre.

Today I’m talking to Katherine Mendelsohn, a translator and dramaturg who spent over a decade as Literary Manager at the Traverse Theatre in Edinburgh, and also worked at the Gate Theatre, the Royal Shakespeare Company and the Royal Court.

She has introduced UK audiences to contemporary Francophone voices from France, Québec and across Africa, as well as bringing fresh life to French classics. In our conversation, Katherine gets to the very centre of how plays are made — and her insights changed the way I think about writing overnight.
