The daughter of an Indian father and Chinese mother, she ran for Houston City Council District C this past April lost in the runoff. Audrey has now taken up the battle against display of the Ten Commandments and Bible infused studies in public schools by filing a lawsuit. She joins us today to explain her strategy. 4:50 pm With a passion for public service and a determination to make his voice heard, attorney Neeloy Azad has his sights on the Houston Mayor’s race in November next year. The son of Bangladeshi immigrants, Neeloy has the enthusiasm and conviction of youth that the Democratic party seeks, to make a case for change that could propel him to even greater heights. But first, Neeloy seeks to make his voice heard in the vibrant Houston political scene and he joins us today in the studio to talk about his opinions. 5:20 pm Of the 254 counties – a few which are very large but sparsely populated – in Texas, 60 per cent or 150 of them do not a pharmacy and one pharmacy closes each week. This is a vexing problem made worse by the near monopolistic control nationwide on reimbursements by three Pharmacy Benefits Managers or PBM – Optum Rx, CVS Caremark and Express Scripts. Some people in rural areas have to drive 20 miles or more to get their prescriptions, others do not have broadband service to order on-line. We speak with Universityof Houston professor Dr. Rajender Aparasu and pharmacist Manvi Sharma to get more details on this situation. Also stay tuned in for news roundup, views, sports and movie reviews.
