  Quadra Sound: Building a World Around the Band

  I first came across Quadra Sound through a clip of the band covering one of my favourite Alice in Chains songs—and honestly, it sounded so good that I wanted to dig deeper. Quadra Sound are a four-piece rock band from Vancouver Island, but they are building more than just a collection of songs. Through social media, playful videos, and their own podcast, they are creating a whole world around the band and finding direct ways to connect with listeners. In this episode, I speak with Nick Fascione about the role social media plays for an independent band, the unexpected video that reached more than a million views, and why sharing more of himself online has encouraged him to be vulnerable. We also get into the band’s years of development, working with producer and songwriter Brian Howes, and the freedom that comes with starting again and reshaping your identity. The conversation eventually brings us back to Campbell River and a deeply personal song about growing up in a small town, wanting to experience more of the world, and remembering where you came from.
