Choosing Texas — Why AI Companies are Making the Move and It's Beyond Data Centers
Texas has become one of the most important places in the country for AI infrastructure. But a new wave of company moves suggests the state may have a much bigger opportunity ahead: becoming a place where AI businesses themselves are built. In this episode of IntoTexas AI, Shannon Belew looks at Auger’s decision to move its headquarters from the Seattle area to North Dallas. Founded by former Amazon executive Dave Clark, the supply-chain AI company has already raised $150 million—and Clark’s explanation for choosing Dallas goes well beyond the familiar Texas story about taxes. He points to customers, industry expertise and access to supply-chain talent. Auger isn’t alone. Partly, Future Secure AI and NextWork are among the companies choosing Austin, while Pudu Robotics moved its U.S. headquarters to Richardson. International companies including Q.ANT are also selecting Texas as the place to establish their U.S. presence. Similar moves by Cognigy and Matic began appearing in 2025. The bigger question is what comes next. Can Texas turn its enormous investments in data centers, semiconductors and energy into a broader AI ecosystem built around companies, talent, customers and capital? And rather than becoming “the next Silicon Valley,” could Austin, Dallas-Fort Worth and Houston each develop their own distinct role in the AI economy? That’s the opportunity we’re watching. #TexasAI #ArtificialIntelligence #AITexas #AIStartups #TechTexas #DallasTech #AustinTech #AIInfrastructure #AITech #IntoTexasAI
