Hi, I’m John Bergman, aka jberg, a DJ, event promoter, and photographer with a passion for Techno and House. My journey began in Detroit and Chicago, where I immersed myself in the underground scene, digging through record stores and hosting legendary loft parties. I also captured nightlife as a photographer, which earned me a residency at Chicago’s iconic Smartbar. Later, I moved to Bali and founded “The Bali Party,” gaining recognition as a promoter and DJ while helping shape the island’s electronic music scene. Inspired by legends like Richie Hawtin, Green Velvet, and Carl Cox, my sets range from Deep House sunsets to high-energy Techno. These days, I spend summers in France, playing five nights a week at Esterel Caravaning Resort, and winters in Bali, bringing vibes to the beach and local bars. Wherever I am, my goal is to create unforgettable moments on the dance floor.

  The rain had moved in, and with the season winding down, the rooftop gave way to the bar for another indoor edition of Esterel Happy Hour. The crowd was smaller this time, and the atmosphere was decidedly relaxed — cocktails, cold beers, and a few people settling in for the evening. So rather than forcing the room into party mode, I leaned into the weather and the mood with a deep, melodic journey through Organic House, Progressive House, Afro House and Melodic House. Starting somewhere between sunset and twilight, the set gradually moved from warm organic grooves into deeper, more cinematic territory before slowly building toward the progressive end of the spectrum. Tracks from All Day I Dream, Anjunadeep, Deepalma and Cercle helped give the evening that spacious, slightly dreamlike feeling that seemed to fit the rainy night perfectly. It wasn't the biggest crowd of the summer, but sometimes that's exactly when you can let the music do what it wants.   The season was winding down, so the rooftop wasn't quite as busy as it had been earlier in the summer. But the people who did make it up were there for the music. Starting with deep house and gradually moving through soulful house, Nu Disco, funky grooves, and a few familiar classics, this became one of those smaller Happy Hours where the crowd and the DJ could settle into their own little world. As the evening lights came on and the last days of summer slipped away, the music kept finding another groove. There wasn't a huge crowd demanding a big finale. Instead, there were a few people who simply didn't want it to stop. So I kept playing. A quieter rooftop, perhaps — but a very good way to finish another Happy Hour.   Esterel Happy Hour 2026-08-26 - Waiting Out the Storm The clouds rolled in early for Wednesday's Happy Hour, but a few brave souls decided they weren't going anywhere just yet. So we settled into a warm mix of deep house, soulful grooves, disco and familiar favorites - from Spooky and The Cure & The Cause to Bad Girls, Canned Heat, Everybody's Free and Out Of Touch. The rooftop may not have been packed, but the people who stayed were treated to nearly the full 2h20 journey. For a while, it looked like we might actually make it through.   A beautiful, clear Tuesday afternoon at Esterel, with the rooftop filling up nicely for another Happy Hour session. This one stayed warm and relaxed, moving between deep house, disco, soulful grooves and classic house influences. Familiar touches from Santana, Little Boots, The Heritage Orchestra and classic house cuts were woven into a steady selection of newer underground sounds, keeping the mood easygoing without ever becoming predictable. No big peaks or dramatic turns this time — just a sunny rooftop, a full crowd and a carefully paced groove carrying the afternoon toward evening.   With thunderstorms threatening the evening, Monday's Happy Hour moved indoors to the bar. Rather than playing it safe, I took the opportunity to change the mood completely — a contemporary journey through Organic House, Melodic, Progressive and Afro House. Starting deep and atmospheric with Amonita, Makebo, Marsh and Sébastien Léger, the set gradually built through hypnotic grooves, melodic textures and Afro-infused rhythms. As the room warmed up, the energy followed, with RÜFÜS DU SOL, Joris Voorn, WhoMadeWho and Ben Böhmer helping take things deeper into the evening. The response was fantastic: high fives, fist bumps, and kids dancing right in front of the booth. With the outdoor Bingo cancelled by the storm, there was no reason to stop at the usual Happy Hour finish — so the music kept going. Sometimes a change of weather is exactly what you need to change the soundtrack.
