Job hopping is no longer a stigma—it's a strategy. But how much does short tenure cost you in the long run? In this episode, Lucas and Luna examine the shifting norms around career loyalty, comparing the steady climb of a 20-year corporate tenure with the accelerated trajectory of a modern 'resume stacker.' They break down real compensation data from tech and finance: how a 2-year stint at a high-growth startup can outpace a decade at a Fortune 500, and when frequent moves actually signal red flags to recruiters. Lucas maps the calculus of signing bonuses, vesting schedules, and non-compete clauses, while Luna questions the hidden trade-offs—lost mentorship, weaker professional networks, and the psychological toll of constant onboarding. They reference specific cases from Amazon's 'pipeline' culture to McKinsey's up-or-out model, and even parse a controversial HBR study showing that job hoppers earn 50% more over a career—but only if they move before age 35. The conversation lands on a

Why Job Hoppers Should Screen for Skills, Not Titles
Aug 21, 20269 minS4
In this episode of Job Hopping with Fexingo, Lucas and Luna explore a fresh angle: how job hoppers can use 'skill-based screening' to evaluate opportunities, rather than chasing titles or tenure. They discuss a real 2025 LinkedIn study showing that 45% of hiring managers now prioritize skills over years of experience, and how this shift benefits candidates with diverse, short tenures. Lucas explains how to audit your own skill stack, identify transferable skills, and reframe your resume to highlight capabilities over chronological job history. Luna shares a personal anecdote about a friend who landed a senior role by leading with a portfolio of skills rather than her patchy work history. They also tackle the practical side: how to ask recruiters about their screening process, how to spot companies that genuinely value skills, and how to avoid the trap of 'skill-washing' in job descriptions. The episode ends with a reflective question about what your own skill narrative says about you. A perfect listen for anyone tired of the tenure debate and ready to focus on what actually matters in hiring today. #SkillBasedHiring #JobHopping #CareerStrategy #HiringTrends #SkillsOverTitles #CareerResume #LucasAndLuna #FexingoBusiness #BusinessPodcast #Careers #HR #TalentAcquisition #LinkedInStudy #TransferableSkills #ResumeTips #JobSearch #CareerGrowth #WorkplaceTrends Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo

The Two-Year Rule in Hiring: Myth or Market Signal
Aug 18, 20268 minS4
In this episode of Job Hopping with Fexingo, Lucas and Luna unpack the 'two-year rule'—the belief that staying less than two years at a job hurts your resume. They explore where this rule came from, how recruiters actually use tenure data in 2026, and why the rule may be losing its power in a labor market that values agility. With references to the rise of contract roles, the impact of AI on career timelines, and what LinkedIn's own data suggests about modern tenure, the hosts challenge listeners to reframe short stints as strategic signals.
