Young carers and identity: Who I am
When your childhood is shaped entirely by responsibility, it can be hard to know where you actually begin. In this episode, host Hettie is joined by Jemima and Ruthie from MYTIME Young Carers - a brilliant charity based in Dorset supporting young carers aged 5 to 25. Together, we talk about what it’s really like trying to figure out who you are when you’ve spent your life caring for someone. We open up about the exhaustion of having to be the responsible one, and the FOMO that comes with missing out on normal childhood milestones. We also tackle that heavy, complicated guilt that hits when you start thinking about moving out or just wanting a life of your own. This podcast was co-produced with the amazing Youth Action & Advisory Board (YAAB) at MYTIME Young Carers.
