#87 | Your Future Is Already Leading You
Aug 19, 202617 min
What if your future isn't something you eventually arrive at? What if it's something you can use right now to change how you lead, what you choose, and what you believe is possible? In this episode of Lead With SWAGGER, we're challenging the way we think about time. We're talking about why your past should be a tool not a prison and how a clearly defined future can reshape your decisions in the present. I'll share the question I've been asking myself lately that is forcing me to think bigger, challenge old assumptions, and stop accepting "realistic" as the only option: What would have to be true? Because sometimes the biggest thing standing between you and an extraordinary future isn't time. It's the rules you've assumed you have to follow.
#86 | People Don't Just Want to Feel Valued—They Want to Add Value
Aug 12, 202615 min
People don't just want to feel valued... they want to add value. And as leaders, parents, partners, coaches, and friends, we have more influence over that than we realize. In this episode, Jennifer shares the surprising leadership lesson hidden inside retirement, empty nests, parenting, caring for aging parents—even her dog, Chance. You'll discover why one of the greatest gifts you can give another person isn't solving their problems... it's creating opportunities for them to contribute. If you've ever wondered how to build more confident teams, stronger relationships, and a greater sense of purpose—for yourself and those around you—this episode will change the way you lead.
Ever catch yourself thinking, "Why don't they just figure it out?" Or maybe you've found yourself saying, "We've already gone over this!" What if the real problem isn't someone's ability—but the assumptions we make as leaders? In this episode of Lead with Swagger, Jennifer Sukalo shares an ordinary morning watching a storm cleanup crew that sparked an extraordinary leadership lesson. The biggest leadership mistakes rarely come from bad intentions—they come from bad assumptions. Jennifer explores why assumptions—not incompetence—often hold people back and how one simple shift from frustration to curiosity can transform the way we lead others and ourselves. Discover why leadership is never one-size-fits-all, how every person moves through four stages of learning—from the eager learner to the confident performer—and why giving the wrong type of support can unintentionally keep people stuck. Drawing on the principles of situational leadership, Jennifer explains how great leaders develop thinkers, not just followers, by meeting people where they are and providing the support they need to grow. Whether you're leading a team, running a business, coaching others, parenting, or navigating your own personal growth, this episode offers practical leadership strategies to improve communication, build confidence, and create environments where people feel empowered to learn, ask questions, and succeed. If you've ever been frustrated with someone—or even yourself—this conversation might completely change your perspective.
Ever walk into a room already carrying the weight of trying to be perfect? Whether it's a presentation, a difficult conversation, a job interview, or even a walk with your dog, the energy you bring into the moment often determines what comes out of it. In this episode, Jennifer shares two powerful stories one from a coaching client preparing for an important workshop and another from an unexpected leadership lesson at dog boot camp—that reveal a truth every leader needs to hear: success has less to do with doing more and everything to do with how you show up. You'll discover why chasing perfection drains your energy, how redefining success can completely change your experience, and why your greatest impact may come from simply planting one seed instead of trying to change every life in the room. If you've been carrying the pressure to get everything right, this conversation will remind you to lead with intention instead of expectation—and may be exactly what you need to take a deep breath before your next big moment.
#83 | The Story That's Steering Your Life (And You Didn't Even Hire It)
Jul 22, 202618 min
Have you ever noticed how one quiet belief can end up running your entire life? Maybe it's I'm not enough. Maybe it's I can't disappoint people. Or maybe it's If I make the wrong decision, everything will fall apart. In this thought-provoking episode, Jennifer invites you to stop looking outside yourself for answers and start listening to the inner voice you've been ignoring. Through powerful questions, personal stories, humor, and honest reflection, you'll uncover the belief that's been shaping your decisions—and decide whether it deserves to stay in charge. Grab a notebook, find a quiet place, and give yourself the space to reflect. This isn't just another podcast episode—it's an invitation to reconnect with the person you've been avoiding all along: Yourself.
