Minneapolis, and other cities in the metro area gained national attention following the fatal shooting of Renee Good, and Alex Pretti in January of 2026. The protest in St. Paul that drew an estimated 250,000 people was an extraordinary pushback to the Federal Government’s siege on Minnesota, known as “Operation Metro Surge.” The fear of ICE agents showing up at the polls, intimidating voters, and arresting people deemed an immigrant ICE, is on the minds of Minnesotans.
