Rooted — Week 4
In this fourth week of the Rooted series, Pastor Danny Cox invites the congregation to consider what it truly means to be rooted in community. He reminds us that following Jesus was never intended to be a solo journey, pointing to the early believers in Acts 2:42‑47 who devoted themselves to fellowship, shared meals, and prayed together. Using that vivid picture, he challenges the church to move beyond simply occupying rows on a Sunday morning and to become a people who are known, loved, and actively support one another. Pastor Danny emphasizes that genuine community requires intentionality and sacrifice. He highlights the word “devoted” in Acts and the example of believers selling their possessions (Acts 2:45) to meet each other's needs, urging us to practice generosity, vulnerability, and accountability. He weaves in Hebrews 10:25’s call not to abandon meeting together, Proverbs’ wisdom that “iron sharpens iron,” and James 5:16’s instruction to confess sins to one another, showing how Scripture repeatedly calls us into deep, relational discipleship. The sermon concludes with practical steps—joining life groups, inviting friends, and opening our homes—so that the church lives out the same life‑sharing love of the early church each day.
