He started as a 17 year old apprentice learning piano restoration under a mentor who had spent 20 years caring for the Royal Danish Conservatory's Steinways, and from there built his way up through running a full retail and service shop, launching his own company, and eventually becoming Arkansas's official Steinway representative in 2017. Today he runs a full Steinway gallery he designed and built himself, acoustics and all, with the CEO of Steinway flying down for the ribbon cutting. We talked about the value of mentorship, how relationships and reputation compound over time, and what it means to build a business around something you genuinely love.
