Episode #904
The Real Gift of Awe (Monday Moment ep. 907)
The first time I saw the Rocky Mountains, my dad looked over at me and asked, "What do you think?" We were standing along the Continental Divide in Colorado, watching the sun set after a 700-mile drive. The sky was glowing. The mountains seemed impossibly large. I was ten years old, had only recently learned to walk again after the fire and was surrounded by my siblings. I took it all in, searched for the most articulate response I could muster and finally said: "Wow." Decades later, Beth and I took our kids to Banff, Alberta. On one of our hikes, we stopped at an overlook above a brilliant blue lake. Mountains rose high on every side. The sky was perfectly clear, the water below impossibly blue. It was all so beautiful that it hardly seemed real. I turned to one of my kids and asked, "What do you think?" The response? Tune in to hear.
