Lone Duck’s Gun Dog Chronicles
E 284. Animal surgeries, warzone stories and conservation with Dr. Cliff Redford
Joined by our friend Dr. Cliff Redford , a Canadian-based vet, worldwide traveler, conservationist and one heck of a storyteller, Bob and Kevin sit down to trade a few wild stories. Dr. Cliff has been working with smaller animals for years and stepped outside his comfort (and safety) zone to help more exotic animals in need. Dr. Cliff has gone from helping animals in war zones to providing surgical help for zoo animals in various countries... this guy seems to have done it all while keeping a great sense of humor. Here's a few highlights from the show: Becoming a vet in Canada, being our neighbor to the north, working on cats and dogs and running a vet office Working on dogs is basically like operating on an alligator, right? Amputating various limbs from animals... it's kind of like butchering a deer... Bob isn't great with US history Working in a vet office that was abandoned in Ukraine during the war. Helping local animals that were left behind or harmed during battles. Discussing healthcare in Canada vs the US, commercial vet clinics are taking over and it is 100% better to support smaller businesses. Maybe using prescription drugs meant for animals.
