Making Friends With The Lord Jesus
The Parable of the Tenants · Oct 4, 2026
As the liturgical year draws to a close, the church directs our attention toward the final stages of life and the ultimate divine judgment. Drawing a parallel to a basketball coach managing the crucial final minutes of a game, I emphasize that our time on earth is finite and on loan from God, not truly owned by us. Through an analysis of the parable of the wicked tenants from the Gospel of Matthew, the message illustrates how humanity often rejects God's messengers and even His Son, Jesus Christ, in favor of selfish desires. Such resistance and mortal sin forfeit the state of grace within the soul, echoing the spiritual downfall of our first parents. Ultimately, Jesus must be the cornerstone of our lives, urging us to accept our responsibilities, wake up spiritually, and prepare to account for the gifts we have been given.
