<p>HIV doesn't announce itself. It works silently — targeting a specific type of immune cell called a CD4 T-cell. These are the cells your body depends on to fight infection.</p><p>As HIV destroys CD4 cells over time, the immune system weakens. When the CD4 count drops below 200 cells per cubic millimetre, the body can no longer defend itself.
