Mindful Moments with Miss Harrison
Complete Series 12: Mindfulness for Everyday Life
Helping children discover that mindfulness does not need to be something separate from everyday life—it can be practised in the small moments that are already part of every day. In Series 12 of Mindful Moments with Miss Harrison , children explore how mindfulness can become part of ordinary routines: waking up, eating, walking, learning at school, preparing for sleep and moving through a busy day. Across six calm and practical episodes, Miss Harrison shows children that being mindful is not about being perfectly calm or clearing every thought from their minds. It is about noticing, pausing and gently bringing attention back to the present moment. The series begins with Mindful Mornings, where children learn how a few moments of stretching, breathing and checking in with themselves can create a calmer beginning to the day. Ezra's story demonstrates how even a two-minute pause can help a rushed morning feel more settled and intentional. In Mindful Eating, children slow things down and explore food through their senses. Through Leo's lunchtime experience, they discover how noticing colours, smells, textures and tastes can transform an everyday meal into an opportunity to practise attention and presence. Mindful Walking takes mindfulness into movement. Children learn to notice their footsteps, surroundings and senses while allowing thoughts to come and go without needing to follow them. Eli's mindful walk demonstrates how gently returning attention to the world around us can help us feel more grounded and connected. The series then moves into the classroom with Mindfulness in School. Through Amira's difficult morning, children learn that mindfulness does not make problems disappear. Instead, a short pause, an anchor breath, focusing on one thing at a time and using kind self-talk can make challenging moments feel more manageable. In Mindful Bedtimes, children explore ways to give busy minds a softer ending to the day. Breathing, stretching, allowing thoughts to pass and reflecting with kindness all become part of creating a peaceful transition towards rest. Finally, A Mindful Life brings everything together. Rosie demonstrates that living mindfully does not mean being mindful every second. Instead, mindfulness can be made up of small moments of awareness and care woven throughout an ordinary, imperfect day. Together, the six episodes help children understand that mindfulness is always available to them. They do not need special equipment or lots of time. Sometimes one breath, one pause or one moment of noticing is enough to begin again. What children will explore across the series: What it means to bring mindful attention to everyday experiences How breathing can create a short pause between feeling and responding How to check in with thoughts, feelings and physical sensations How the senses can bring attention back to the present How ordinary activities such as eating and walking can become mindful moments How to focus on one thing at a time when learning How kind self-talk can support children when things feel difficult How to allow thoughts to come and go without becoming caught up in them How mindfulness can support calmer bedtime routines Why mindfulness is not about being calm or perfect all the time How one mindful moment can provide an opportunity to pause and begin again Mindfulness Skills from Miss Harrison: Pause and notice Stop for a moment and become curious about what is happening in your body, thoughts, feelings and surroundings. Come back to your breath One slow breath can help bring your attention back to where you are right now. Use your senses Notice what you can see, hear, smell, taste and feel. Your senses can anchor you in the present moment. Focus on one thing at a time You do not have to think about everything at once. Bring your attention gently back to the thing you are doing now. Let thoughts come and go You don't need to stop every thought. Notice it, allow it to pass and gently return your attention to the present. Begin again If your attention wanders or a moment becomes difficult, that doesn't mean mindfulness has gone wrong. Take a breath and start again. These skills help children develop attention, self-awareness, emotional regulation, calm, concentration and a kinder relationship with their own thoughts and feelings.
