The Missing Curriculum
The one where we ask whether education is preparing young people to pass a test, or to understand themselves. After 15 years as a teacher, I have watched too many young people measure their worth through marks, ranks and other people’s expectations. I know that experience personally. I grew up believing I was terrible at maths and science, that I was distracted and not reaching my potential. In reality, my strengths were leadership, creativity, connection and making others feel seen. In this episode, I explore the missing curriculum: the things young people need to navigate a world of constant stimulation, disconnection and AI. Decision-making. Energy. Identity. Communication. Learning. Self-trust. Contribution. This is not about blaming teachers, leaders or parents. They want change too. It is about recognising that a system designed for another era cannot fully prepare young people for the world they are entering. It asks what could become possible if education began with understanding the individual. I also share why astrology and Human Design have been such profound tools in my own life. I do not use them as labels or fixed answers, but as languages for exploring how we think, feel, learn, use our energy and make decisions. This conversation sits at the heart of why I created YOU Decoded, an intimate three-day self-awareness experience for young people aged 14 to 18. It offers teenagers something I wish more of us had received earlier: language for understanding themselves before self-doubt becomes louder than their own voice.
