Ep. 95 Earning My Way to Empty: The Childhood Pattern Behind Over-giving
Aug 4, 202615 min
You already know you over-give. What you might not know is where that pattern actually started, and why it's not the generosity it looks like from the outside. In this solo episode I get personal, about the parents who raised me, the belief I absorbed before I could even name it, and the nervous system science behind why "being loved" started feeling like something you have to earn. We do a full guided hand-on-heart breathwork practice together so you can actually find where that pattern lives in your body, not just understand it in your head. This isn't about blaming anyone. It's about finally putting down a weight you've been carrying so long you forgot you were carrying it. In this episode: Why over-giving is insurance, not kindness The specific way a survival-mode childhood can leave a mark even in a family that turns out fine What your nervous system is actually doing when you can't fully rest A guided hand-on-heart breathwork practice to locate where "earning" lives in your body Why naming where a pattern started isn't about assigning blame If this episode landed somewhere in your body, my paid Substack is where the real unlearning continues every week. $11/month. https://substack.com/@drtanyaberfield
Ep. 94 How to Build Real Confidence After Imposter Syndrome
Jul 29, 202643 min
Last month we talked about imposter syndrome. This month we talk about what comes after it: real confidence, not the performed kind. I sat down live with Jen Kohler, numerologist and business mentor, to talk about the difference between being sold on yourself and just acting like you are. We get into what confidence actually looks like in the nervous system, why boundaries build it faster than affirmations do, and the numerology reading that named something I had been circling for months without saying out loud. This episode was recorded live on Substack. If you want to catch these conversations as they happen, that's where to find me first. In this episode: Why confidence is not certainty, and what it actually is What a numerology reading can show you about the patterns you keep repeating The difference between building a boundary and being one Why overgiving with resentment is not generosity, it's a warning sign How the nervous system, not the mindset, is where real confidence gets built If this lands for you, the $7 Nervous System Check-In is a fast way to start feeling the shift in your body, not just your head. Ep. 93 Fight or Flight: What Performed Confidence Is Actually Costing You
Jul 6, 202617 min
She had two choices in that meeting, and she chose the one that let her carry it all the way home. Pop off, or shrink. That's the trap most high-functioning women have been living in for years, and it has nothing to do with confidence. It has everything to do with a nervous system that learned somewhere along the way that taking up space isn't safe. If you've ever sat in a room knowing you were the most qualified person in it and still said nothing, this episode is for you. This week, Dr. Tanya breaks down the real difference between performed confidence and regulated confidence, why your credentials have never been the problem, and leads a live somatic practice to help you locate where performed confidence lives in your body. In this episode: The two responses your nervous system reaches for when your competence feels threatened Why the most regulated person in the room is always the most powerful one A guided body-based practice to start noticing your own pattern This week's Mindset Medicine prescription Mentioned in this episode: The 3-Minute Nervous System Check-In at drtanyab.com Ready to stop managing how you appear and start actually feeling settled? Ep. 91 What Imposter Syndrome Actually Feels Like in the Body
Jun 1, 202618 min
You have been doing the work. Reading the books. Saying the affirmations. And you still feel it in your gut when you walk into certain rooms. That is because imposter syndrome is not living in your thoughts. It is living in your body. In this episode, Dr. Tanya Berfield opens June's Mindset Medicine series on imposter syndrome by naming what nobody else is saying, this is not a confidence problem, it is a disconnection problem. And if it is lodged somewhere, it can be moved. This episode covers: The difference between the clinical diagnosis and the feeling most of us are actually carrying Where imposter syndrome lives in the body and why affirmations alone will never move it The nervous system tab you have been running without realizing it A live EFT tapping sequence to begin releasing the story at the body level This is the Acknowledge phase of Mindset Medicine. We are not fixing anything today. We are just stopping pretending it is not there.
