The podcast where every week, a bunch of nerds ooze into a Vermont basement to play tabletop roleplaying games. Nerds of the Pit is an actual play podcast recorded in a basement in Vergennes, Vermont. We roll dice, argue about initiative order, and tell stories that swing from swamp gothic horror to deep space paranoia, sometimes in the same session. We're running two campaigns: Out of the Duskhome — a homebrew D&D 5e (2024 rules) adventure set in remote Aeore Parish, where Spanish moss hides more than just alligators, a silent goddess has abandoned her people to their fate, an ancient evil festers in the heart of the swamp, and pirates prowl the coast looking for a payday. Lagrange Point — a corporate horror campaign aboard the deep space freighter M.S. Bad Romance, running first in Mothership and then switching over to our own eponymous, homegrown game system. Listen as the crew deals with a dead, transmogrifying scientist, ruthless mercenaries in pursuit, and a space station locked in orbit around a radiation-spewing, murderous red dwarf star. Whether you're here for the swamp or the stars, you'll get real dice, deep character work, and a table of nerds who take the fiction seriously and themselves not at all — mostly because we're too busy cracking each other up to stay serious for long. Bad Romance, a deep space freighter in the far reaches of colonized space. When a routine scientist pickup job goes sideways, the crew of the Bad Romance finds themselves holding a cargo they can't deliver, chased by people they can't outrun, and on the clock in ways they don't yet understand.   Welcome to the third episode of Lagrange Point, our sci-fi campaign. We're venturing out into the black, following the crew of the long haul freighter, the MS Bad Romance, under the command of NPC Captain Marco Lopez, and piloted by NPC Janie Graybeal. We'll join Johnny Utah, the android, played by Adam, Chief Hale Stidham, the teamster, played by John, Dr. Elroy Ivers, the scientist played by Nial, and Marine Moonsong Zipperstein played by Sam as they take whatever jobs come their way to survive another day. In our last session, the Bad Romance was running on auxiliary power and life support was down. Chief Hale Stidham executed a risky hard reboot of the ship to bring everything back online. But their relief was short lived as they soon learned the ship's damage wasn't an accident: it was sabotage.
