Ruber Del Castillo: my kambo man! a post-dieta conversation
Ruber Del Castillo is a Kambo medicine man, jungle expedition leader and tour guide born and raised in the Peruvian amazon rainforest. I had the great fortune of staying with him and his family in their comunidad nativa along the Aucayacu River near Iquitos, Peru to complete an intensive healing and learning process with the amazonian frog medicine Kambo. We recorded this video after completing my ~9 day Kambo diet. Ruber was my "guide" in every aspect during this journey. Him and his family know the jungle like it's the back of their hand. We journeyed by canoe at night to find Kambo frogs in the trees. We camped out in the middle of the jungle and went for hikes at night! Ruber taught me how to frog call and collect the medicine from the Kambo frogs in an ethical, respectful way and always reminded me to have faith in the medicine when I was losing my patience. He was always attentive to our surroundings and is an encyclopedia of knowledge when it comes to the animals, plants and trees of the ecosystem that he calls home. And he sat with me day after day, session after session, while I went through my long healing process with Kambo that, two months out, is continuing to unfold in profound ways I would not have expected. Again, please forgive any errors in the spanish/english translation. Ruber speaks excellent english too! If you're curious about Kambo or wanting to go down for an expedition into the jungle without having any type of traditional medicine, you'll be in good hands with Ruber and the Castillo family.
