  Jamie went to Matlock Bath and tried to buy an ice cream. They said cash only. Jamie was not having it. This week's hill to die on: there is no excuse for a business not taking card in 2025. None. The technology exists, it is affordable, and choosing to be cash only is either laziness, bloody-mindedness, or something else entirely. Richard has a counter argument. Jamie is not interested. Also this week: the new Prime Minister visited Derby. Jamie's partner was there. Jamie seized the moment and asked her to invite him on the podcast. She did not pass the message on. The dream lives on regardless. The World Cup is coming. FIFA continues to be FIFA. Odyssey — the film — gets a brief review. MCR at Wembley happened and it was incredible, anniversary tour hill or not. Jamie also tells Richard off for saying less when he means fewer. Richard is not sorry. And then there is the Nerds Den. One big, definitive Temu camping report. Richard went into the wilderness with £60 of questionable gear and came back with stories, field recordings, and an Aztec death whistle. Yes, really.

  For the first time in Nobody Cares What You Think history, there is a guest. His name is Kirk. He runs Trendng, an independent culture and music platform covering Derby and beyond, and unlike most people Jamie and Richard talk about, they genuinely wanted to hear what he had to say. The conversation covers how Trendng started, what it actually takes to run independent cultural coverage, and why the stories coming out of smaller cities and smaller venues matter more than anyone with a national platform seems to notice. What's old is new again — grassroots culture is having a moment and Kirk is one of the people paying attention to it. Kirk's hill to die on: it is perfectly fine to film at a gig on your phone. Just don't spend the whole night looking through it. Jamie and Richard have thoughts. He went to see an experimental artist and has thoughts. He also tells a story about the film London Road that Jamie still doesn't fully understand by the end, and frankly neither will you. Jamie bought tickets to the My Chemical Romance Black Parade anniversary tour at Wembley. Regular listeners will remember Richard's hill in Episode 6. Jamie would like it noted that he is aware of the irony. Main topic: are we just getting old, or was the old stuff genuinely better? Does anything feel properly unmissable anymore the way things used to? The World Cup is coming, MCR are doing anniversary tours, and Richard is watching a sitcom from 1982.
