Office Hours with Fexingo is the daily career Q&A show where Lucas and Luna answer real listener questions about workplace dilemmas, professional growth, and career strategy. Lucas, a veteran journalist who has covered corporate culture for two decades, brings a reporter's rigor to each query — citing specific studies, company policies, and labor market data. Luna, a former HR executive turned career coach, counters with on-the-ground insights from hundreds of coaching sessions, offering tactics that actually work in real offices, not just theory. Together, they tackle everything from negotiating a counteroffer at a Fortune 500 to navigating remote team dynamics at a startup. Each episode starts with one listener's raw question — no filter, no staging — and ends with a concrete action plan. Whether it's decoding a cryptic performance review, asking for a promotion without alienating your boss, or deciding whether to take that lateral move, Lucas and Luna bring the receipts. No generic

Why Your Last Job Change Backfired
Sep 29, 202612 minS5
Most career advice tells you to jump for a higher title or salary, but September 2026 data shows that rapid job-hopping is quietly eroding long-term earning potential and pension vesting. In this episode, Lucas and Luna unpack the hidden tax of internal mobility versus external moves, using a specific case study of a mid-level manager who traded stability for a flashy title and lost three years of compounding growth. They discuss how companies are restructuring their equity grants in Q3 2026, why your professional network inside a firm matters more than your LinkedIn profile, and the one metric you should track before accepting any offer that doesn't involve a direct salary increase. #CareerStrategy #JobHopping #CompensationNegotiation #MidCareerCrisis #EmployeeRetention #EquityGrants #ProfessionalNetwork #SalaryGrowth #PensionVesting #InternalMobility #WorkplaceLoyalty #CareerTrajectory #FinancialPlanning #HumanResources #CorporateStructure #FexingoBusiness #BusinessPodcast #Careers Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
Most professionals assume that earning a new title automatically resolves their compensation stagnation, but the data suggests otherwise. In this episode, we examine why internal promotions frequently fail to deliver the expected salary bump, using the specific case of mid-level managers at major technology firms who saw their titles upgrade while their base pay remained flat for two consecutive fiscal years. We break down the structural reasons behind this phenomenon, including budget cycle misalignments, the 'promotion penalty' where increased responsibility outpaces pay adjustments, and how HR departments often use title changes as a cost-neutral retention tool. If you are planning your next career move or negotiating an internal raise, understanding these dynamics is critical to ensuring your effort translates into actual financial gain rather than just more work. #CareerAdvice #SalaryNegotiation #InternalPromotions #CompensationStrategy #HumanResources #MidCareerGrowth #BasePay #TitleInflation #WorkplaceValue #ProfessionalDevelopment #JobHopping #RetentionStrategies #ManagerRoles #TechIndustryCareers #FexingoBusiness #BusinessPodcast #CareerMyths #OfficePolitics Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
In this episode of Office Hours, Lucas and Luna dissect the hidden friction between job seekers and hiring algorithms. Rather than focusing on resume keywords, they examine how LinkedIn’s algorithmic feed and recruiter search filters create a 'visibility tax' for qualified candidates. Using the example of a senior marketing manager who optimized her profile based on semantic matching rather than traditional metrics, the hosts reveal why being found is often harder than being qualified. They break down the specific mechanics of the S&P 500 tech sector’s hiring pipeline as of September 27, 2026, showing how small tweaks in headline structure and skill endorsement sequencing can double interview response rates. If you are actively job hunting or preparing for a career pivot, this conversation offers concrete, actionable advice on aligning your digital presence with the tools recruiters actually use. #CareerStrategy #LinkedInOptimization #JobSearchTips #RecruitingAlgorithms #ProfessionalBranding #DigitalPresence #HiringTrends2026 #ResumeMarketing #NetworkingSkills #CareerPivot #TechIndustryJobs #FexingoBusiness #BusinessPodcast #OfficeHours #LucasAndLuna #WorkplaceAdvice #JobSeekerGuide #CareerGrowth Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
Most career advice tells you to chase the highest starting salary, but it ignores the compounding tax of your professional history. In this episode, we look at how a single misaligned job change in year three can erase five years of compounding returns on your resume value. We break down the specific mechanics of how hiring managers score trajectory versus tenure, using a concrete example from the mid-career tech sector in September twenty twenty six. You will learn why staying put for eighteen months often pays more than jumping for a ten percent bump, and how to audit your own career path before making your next move. #CareerTrajectory #MidCareerAdvice #ResumeStrategy #JobHoppingCosts #CompensationAnalysis #ProfessionalGrowth #HiringManagerPerspective #SalaryNegotiation #CareerPivot #FexingoBusiness #BusinessPodcast #CareersShow #WorkplaceStrategy #EconomicReality #CareerAudit #JobMarketInsights #LongTermValue #CareerDecisions Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
We are looking at the hidden cost of professional isolation in a remote-first economy. Using data from the 2026 LinkedIn Workforce Report, we see that employees who lack strong internal ties earn significantly less over their careers compared to those with dense internal networks. Lucas breaks down how 'structural holes' in your organization create salary gaps, while Luna shares an anecdote about a colleague who leveraged cross-departmental visibility for a major promotion. We discuss specific tactics for building these bridges without falling into the trap of performing unpaid labor. #CareerAdvice #ProfessionalNetwork #RemoteWork #SalaryNegotiation #InternalMobility #OfficePolitics #FexingoBusiness #BusinessPodcast #CorporateStrategy #LeadershipSkills #HumanResources #WorkplaceCulture #NetworkingTips #CareerGrowth #EconomicTrends #JobSearch #EmployeeEngagement #FexingoDaily Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
