  Welcome to One Day Closer where we are rekindling a spirit of hope and truth into today’s crazy conversations. I’m happy to have a very long time friend of mine back in studio, Paul welcome back. Two shows ago, 319, I introduced everyone to our Fall Series entitled Pencil Neck Politicians, Policies and Positions and Paul jumped all over the topic. I had him with Pencil Neck Politicians. Last week I did a little “Dave Talk” on America and asked the question WHO is She (America) to You? What are your memories of her growing up? I shared my childhood and adulthood experiences with her and I highlighted how our listening audience under the age of 30 or 40, would have had a different experience than I did growing up. And that’s a shame. They were ripped off. But let’s assume for a moment that you weren’t ripped off. You were a surviver…not a victim but a conquer, just like all the rest of us that had to find a way to solider on through that period. I hope you’ll notice how I “positioned” or “posed” that question. I didn’t tee it up with a negative label like “victimhood” in hopes of feeding your frustration to join a rebellious cause, but rather I complimented you on being a surviver and then a conquer…for soldiering on through the difficult times. That in a nut shell is “messaging,” better known as “spin.” With crafted messaging and supportive imagery, one could easily be persuaded to “buy in” to all forms of propaganda, conspiracy theories, blatant lies and half truths. The only way to avoid falling prey to such scams, deceit and trickery, is to personally own the final interpretation or claim being offered. If you truly seek to know the truth, on any given topic, you’ll need to be inquisitive enough to dig deeper into the statements, claims, assertions, etc., on all sides and you’ll have to be open minded and double check the “fact checkers.” Today, Paul and I are going to do just that as we examine the question what is American Exceptionalism? Haters of America tend to suggest that American Exceptionalism is an arrogant thing. Exclusionary even. Maybe even racist, fascist, nationalist or even dictoral. Why is America desirable and sought after by every third world country and yet despised by the far left Democrat Socialist of America? American exceptionalism is the belief that the United States is unique or distinct from other nations in its values, political system, and historical development. This idea often includes the view that the U.S. has a special mission or moral superiority to lead the world. A quick Google Search reveals the following: Origins and Core Ideas Early roots: The concept dates back to early settlers like the Puritans, who viewed America as a special "city upon a hill" chosen by God to lead by example. Founding principles: Proponents point to the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution as proof of a unique dedication to liberty, individual rights, and self-governance derived from the consent of the governed. Economic opportunity: The concept highlights America as a land of upward mobility where people can escape rigid European class structures. Global Role and Foreign Policy World leadership: Believers argue that the U.S. has a duty to promote and defend democracy and human rights globally. Exceptionalism: Critics note that this mindset can lead the U.S. to act independently of international law or global treaties, assuming standard international rules do not apply to its actions. Founding Ideals and Government The Declaration of Independence: Stating that a government gets its power from the consent of the people, rather than a king. (So I guess this rules out America is being run by a Dictator or a King…even though they protest “No King”). Culture and Society The American Dream: The belief that anyone can achieve success and social mobility through hard work, regardless of family background. The Frontier Spirit: A historical focus on westward expansion and self-reliance that shaped an independent national character. High Rates of Immigration: The continuous draw of people from around the world who move to the U.S. seeking freedom and opportunity. Global Role and Economy Manifest Destiny: The 19th-century belief that the U.S. was destined to expand across the North American continent. Global Leadership and Defense: Leading international alliances (like NATO) and acting as a major economic and military power following World War II. Economic Innovation: Deep capital markets and massive technological advancements driven by a capitalist system Core Traits of Fascism fascist is a person who supports or follows fascism , an extreme right-wing, authoritarian, and ultranationalist political system. As an adjective, it describes something related to this system, which is led by a dictator who allows no opposition and controls society by force. Total Power: A single leader or strict government holds all control. Extreme Pride: Intense love for the nation or race above all else. No Freedom: Free speech, voting, and basic individual rights are banned or crushed. Force and Violence: Military power and police control are used to stop anyone who disagrees. Despite what the Democrat Socialist of America chant, Trump does not meet the definition of a fascist. He is NOT a single leader. Houses of Congress keep him in-check as do our elections, the votes of our citizenry. Trump favors no race or religion. In America, we all have freedom of speech and if we are citizens we all have a right and are encouraged to vote. So the assertion that Trump is a "King" or a "dictator," or fascist is simply not true. That rhetoric is simply propoganda. So is Exceptionalism an arrogant / Nationalist / Superiority driven thing or a Humbly driven thing? To answer that wouldn’t we need to go all the way back to the beginning to find the corner stone of the foundation if you will? Wouldn’t that be our Judeo-Christian beliefs that are captured in the Declaration of Independence? What defines America and what makes her so desirable by millions around the world? Is it access to FREE STUFF, UNCHECKED SCAMS and MEANS TO RIP US OFF or was the initial interest…and driver back in the day….FREEDOM! FREEDOM from oppression and real Dictatorships?   E 320: America. Who is She to You?

  Before we kick off our first, let’s call it, “Dave Talk” for our Fall Series entitled “Pencil-Neck Politicians, Positions and Policies” in preparation for the critical midterm elections, I thought it might be helpful to give you some background about myself. Where to begin? Well kids, once upon a time, a long, long, time ago, I was born in the hills of Tennessee in the mid 1900’s, and at the age of 13, my aspiring middle class family moved to the Midwest, flyover country for those in Washington DC. As a kid we played kickball, dodgeball, Red Rover Red Rover “send the chunky kid over” and Kick the Can just after dinner when the street lights came on. It was a wholesome upbringing, safe, full of adventure and 100% Do It Yourself offline entertainment, character building and social skills development. Imagination was the driver . If you could imagine it…you could build it. Dads went to work, kids rode the bus to school or walked, moms stayed home with the young’ins and we all gathered again around the dinner table for supper, before being dismissed to play outside under the street lights. That was my America growing up. I was blessed to have two active and engaged parents in my life living under the same roof and one elder brother I had to learn to share with. On Sundays, after Sunday nite church if my parents had saved enough change, we would stop my Pals Ice Cream shop on the way home for a single scoop ice cream cone or a chocolate shake. Summers in America where I grew up were magical. If you had parents, or if not, maybe an Uncle or an Aunt, a caring teacher or neighbor they would ask you “what do you want to be when you grow up?” You see in America, you were allowed, encouraged actually, to dream big and swing for the fence. You could be a fireman, a policeman, a doctor, a teacher, or the President of the United States. Folks went out of their way to encourage you to pursue your dreams…”go to college” they would say, “get a job and work real hard…you can be whatever you want." If you couldn’t afford college there were trade schools you could pursue or you could become an apprentice to a carpenter, electrician, welder, mechanic, you name it. But what you couldn’t say is “I want to be a freeloader, a hippie, a cheater and a theft, a no good scoundrel, a criminal, a gangster, a rapist, a serial killer, a community organizer, a radical protester, a commie, a race baiter or a transgender he/she and convince my future pupils that there are 16 different genders and the Lord God Almighty is non-binary.. That kind of ambition got you no where in my America. Growing up in my America meant everyone was all in to helping each other find their way to contributing positively to the development of the community, the citizenry, and the greater republic. Victimhood was not an acceptable career path. America has always been a land of opportunity. In her earlier days, if you wanted to be a farmer you bought a pig and some chickens. If you wanted to be a settler you sold your inherited possessions, maybe your grandpas pocket watch and bought a wagon, horses, supplies, pack up the family and headed west. Adventure and the unknown possibilities of a better tomorrow were the drivers . Anything was possible if you were willing to risk everything. Hope in a brighter future was the dream and Faith in a loving and ever present God was the pathway forward. That was our forefathers America. After having children I became more interested in politics as current policies at the time were effecting my earning power and opportunities so I needed to learn more about the players so I could vote more wisely and vote folks into office that aligned with my values . Leaders that would enacted policies that inspired and rewarded hard work, encouraged visionaries, entrepreneurs and supported the development of the nuclear family and their need for excellent k-12 education…a curriculum that did not introduce our kids to drag queen story hour, cross dressing, twerking dance moves by bearded men wearing lipstick, wigs, eye makeup and ladies lingerie. How did they think any of this would build a better, stronger more exceptional America? I started paying more attention to the news in advance of the dot.com bubble bursting in October of 2002 after it lost 78% of its value and started “watching” news nearly everyday since 9/11/2001. The fall of the twin towers was the first major attack on American soil since Pearl Harbor December 7, 1941. I just knew that things would be different from that day forward. It was clear to me, that if I wanted to protect my vision of America and leave her healthy enough for my kids and grandkids someday to experience the opportunities provided by America, I would have to become an active contributor and not just a passing through benefactor. But what about your America? If you are listening and under the age of 30, your experience and view of America may be quite different than mine. In fact, I know it was. You would have been around 6 years old when 911 occurred. At age 6 that terrorist attack might not have affected your life at all unless you lost a parent or loved one from it. But let’s fast forward to 2019. If you had been in any school, any grade in any city on the planet, your life changed the minute Dr. Fauci advised the world of the Pandemic. His advice? Close schools. Distance yourself from loved ones. Shut down the economy. Kids of all ages lost years of social interaction with friends, distant relatives and down the street grandparents. Identities and personalities were hidden behind mask for years. High school sports, proms, dances all cancelled. Tens of thousands of restaurants closed and never reopened. Footsteps and circles were painted on sidewalks six feet apart telling you where you could stand and not stand. They told us it was for safety precautions. Keep your distance. It took six years but now we know things that they didn’t tell us then. If the Pandemic was so deadly, why did the Biden administration continue to allow tens of millions to enter our country at such a critical time? I truly weep for you guys if this defines your youthful years of America. You got ripped off. But you’re not the only ones. Many young men and women in our early days and not too distant past, marched off to fight the American Revolution, the Civil War, WW1, WW2, Vietnam, Korean War, Afghanistan, I could go on and on…but here’s my point. They did so because they believed in the virtues of America even if they wouldn’t survive the fight to come home and experience them! All the youth hear about today from social media is that America is to blame…for everything. The truth is…America…her core values, her founding charter, her virtues worthy of pursuit never changed. But if you listen to the democrat Socialist of “America” they will tell you that America is racist, white supremeist is to blame, the elite wealthy are to blame, ICE is the problem, law and order is the problem, everything should be free…THAT IS A LIE and a DISTRACTION from the PIT OF HELL. They are taking advantage of your frustration over the plight of your youthful American experience and fueling hatred towards America that is misguided. The failure isn’t Americas but the generation before you that took their eye off the ball and let the clowns run the circus, unchecked and unsupervised. To be painfully blunt and honest, our parents were too comfortable and too silent and they let things get out of hand. And if we don’t wake up our kids and grandkids will accuse us of the same. This midterm is not a battle between democrats or republicans…it’s a battle to save our western civilization. Why? Because this is YOUR AMERICA not just mine. And there are those that want to take her, your freedoms and opportunities away from you. What defines America and what makes her so desirable by millions around the world, that they are willing to sacrifice everything to get here? If America really is as bad as the left leaning media say it is or that the radical protestors in the streets say she is…why are they NOT WARNING their countrymen from Somalia, Uganda, and beyond to STAY AWAY…DON’T COME…IT’S A TRAP!! Why aren’t they storming the borders to get out of America? What held pilgrims, immigrants, settlers, adventurers, and the like together in the early days of American history was a founding document that established our shared values and disciplines under one God. It defined who we were and captured the virtues of who we wanted to be and guided us in times of difficult struggles. America doesn’t need a new movement or a new party. It needs a rebirth. A renewed commitment to her founding virtue, mission, purpose and calling. It needs her citizenry to unity once again and rally to the cause of freedom, God and country…common sense…and to find the courage to rise above the Covid fog of fear, stand up, find our voice and cast our vote for virtues worthy of emulating.   Welcome to One Day Closer with Mark and Dave where we are rekindling a spirit of Hope and Truth into today’s crazy discussions. If your joining us for the first time, ODC has a tendency of boldly wondering into topics that here in the west are taboo around the dinner table…topics like politics…religion…Bible and sensitive social constructs. We do this not to be contrarian but to expose what use to be obvious in decades past, but today seems cloudy at best to down right corrupt and twisted insane logic. So we decided for the next three months, ahead of the mid-terms, we’re going to attempt to peel back the layers of the Political Onion, if you will, and dive deep into the positions beings pitched by the players come November. This Fall Series is intended to help our US based listeners better understand their choices in November or hear, for the first time, the policy positions of their current favorite candidate…from an open and honest perspective. The objective is to highlight specific policies or positions candidates are pitching, communicate all sides of the argument, regardless of whether its a political challenge or a cultural challenge, ponder both the absurdity and the common sense surrounding each proposed solution…and give you, our listeners a mission, tools and direction as to how to engage. For our loyal listeners…don’t worry…Mark and I will still make time to poke fun at stupidity, connect supportive biblical references when appropriate and keep our eye on current affairs and keep you updated on the decimation of the IRGC, empowering the uprising of the Persian people that want to live and thrive, bible prophesy and what lies ahead from our perspective. But before I get started with a quick overview of what specifically we intend to cover over the next three months, I want to share an epiphany God gave me a couple of weeks ago during my evening prayer. As I prepared for bed and began contemplating what I want to talk with God about…my heart was heavy on ALL the things that are wrong with not just our country but the whole world. Have you ever done that? You start praying with hope and encouraging words and before you know it your complaining like a 7 year old kid or a recently graduated college kid…when they find out their basket weaving with bamboo draws little interest in the market. I was praying for our country and caught myself starting to complain about how everything is so jacked up, but then I decided to first thank him for the beauty of this plant, the beautiful cities I’ve been blessed to visit and the ones I haven’t yet seen, the culture… the food… the people…the uniquely different traditions and faiths practiced around the globe…his handiwork in the landscape, topography, oceans, the clarity of the waters of the Caribbean, the mountains and again the people….some built beautiful things, monuments, bridges towns, cathedrals… while others built fortunes by taking advantage of everyone…they pursue greed, scammed the system, pursued profit with one self-serving objective in mind…self…etc., etc. Then I asked Him, “Lord, how do we right this ship? Where do we start? People are divided, nations are still warring with neighboring nations, everything is broken, every institution in America has been left unchecked, unaudited and unaccountable, corruption is everywhere… and then he answered my question even before I was finished listing my complaints … “You right the ship the same way you built this nation…one generation at a time. Your life is your sacrifice for the freedoms you hope to pass down to your children’s children.” That was an epiphany for me because I’ve always thought that our life was our legacy and that was something we left behind for our loved ones…but His answer said “one generation at a time.” That means we all add a stone to wall. It’s not my job alone to build the wall or right the ship…it’s all of us that are called to make not only a contribution but a significant difference FOR THE NEXT GENERATION. It became clear to me that ODC can serve as MORE THAN a voice exposing and laughing at stupid. We could be an awesome teaching resource if we dove deeper into topics of vital importance. If we changed our focus or raised the bar just a little higher, we could offer more than just suggestions to “get involved at your school” or to “write your congressman.” So with that encouragement, I pitched Mark on the idea of the Fall Series and here we are. So. Here’s a quick overview of what we intend to cover over the next three months. We’ll start with a few starter courses to prep you guys for where we expect to end. For example: Why it’s Important to Educate Yourself: www.usvoterfoundation.org Why we need to watch News and not just read news….and what News sources should we trust and why. The Wizard of Oz and Media. What they share in common. Why the youth choose Progressive Collectivism (socialism- less work for each) How to talk with your spouse, kids, voting age youth and others about tough topics (you first need to know the arguments) How to explain progressivism What is American Exceptionalism? Is it an arrogant thing or a humble thing? Why America is desirable and sought after by every third world country What is Communism and where has it been successfully implemented? What is the truth? Game Theory - why media hypes protest, riots and chaos HOTTEST Economic Influencing Positions / Policies Resolving the Hostage taking of the Strait of Hormuz Returning free flow of commerce Interest rates Gas prices Affordability Secure, Fair and Transparent Voting for all American Citizens Restoring trust and confidence in our Institutions with the American people TRENDY Positions or Policies that do not influence Economics WOKE, DEI, TRANS Discussions Defunding the Police and Abolishing ICE Global Warming or Cooling Initiatives Combating Climate Change Mandating Electric Vehicles, EV Ports Nationwide and Turbine Wind Farms Everywhere Workers Rights, Stronger Unions and Public Education Investments Political topics to examine and prioritize: -Political Differences and Ideologies between Democrats, Republicans, Progressives and Far Left Socialist -Who are the Players in each Party or Movement and what are their aspirations and motivations -What should be the Job Requirements for Candidates Seeking Office? Should we have job requirements for each role? -Committee of 13 after the 13 Colonies should be created to vet all applications / submissions before one is allowed to run (Senators, Congressmen, mayors, governors, city council roles) -Term Limits - Sunsetting Seniors -Voter ID, Purging Voter Registration Data -New Birth Tourism - long game -Islamic Invasion - Behind the Curtain (low level roles and their long game) -Committee Hearings: when democrats or any party boycotts attendance insufficient of a quorum, committee chair can propose and pass a resolve to whatever they are discussing (Nick Shirley - independent investigator- Learing Center testified on the hill and zero democrats attended) -How to interact with ICE Agents -Qualifying for a Drivers License -Foreign investments into elections We’ll also dive deep into the many new players / candidates running this fall and peel back the onion as to their convictions, positions, and actual job experience and qualifications.   Welcome to ODC with Mark and Dave where we are rekindling a spirit of Hope and Truth into today’s discussion…and today I would like to welcome you to your first day of Orientation into what “ISM’s” are. Consider this a 101 college level orientation into what Islamism, Communism, Socialism and Capitalism mean. We will open with a brief overview from Mark Levin, host of the Life, Liberty and Levin show on FOX. Mr. Levin is a well known and well respected American conservative, lawyer and a Constitutional Scholar of great note on the American Constitution, our Bill of Rights and the freedoms therein defined by our Founders. In our first clip, Mr. Levin does an excellent job defining the framework of this Republic without going too deep into the weeds. Remember. This is a 101 Orientation class so it should not be over your heads. My second clip will feature a guest Levin had on his Saturday show that has insight to bare on the current state of the Democrat party, as it is being taken over by the Socialist Democrat Party and some interesting facts about our youth today. I thought this would be a great overview as we begin the process of reprogramming the minds of our youth who have been lied to for the last 20 plus years at our institutions.
