#27 The Great Pretender
In Episode 27, “The Great Pretender,” Dean has a gripping conversation with David Nahi — a man who mastered the art of pretending long before he ever learned the power of surrender. Growing up with a single mother in a tough neighbourhood marked by violence, addiction, and poverty, David learned early how to survive. Humour became his disguise. Manipulation became his weapon. And for years, he lived two lives — one that people could see, and one that was slowly destroying him from the inside. His marriage fell apart. His wife left with their children. His double life followed him even into ministry. And behind closed doors, addiction still had its claws in him. But everything changed the day David found himself alone in his shed — drugs in hand, heart breaking, and finally out of excuses. In that moment, he cried out to the Lord with everything he had left. What happened next transformed his entire life. The addictions broke instantly. The double life ended. His marriage was restored. And his identity was rebuilt from the ground up. Today, David is completely free, sober, and living with purpose. He now runs: Victory House — a 12‑month rehabilitation program for former inmates and addicts A community feed scheme — supporting individuals and families doing it tough His story is a powerful reminder that God can turn even the greatest pretender into a man of truth, freedom, and purpose.
