Matrescence, Maternal Mental Health & Eco-Distress with Allison Davis
Know your number, but it hasn't moved in two years? Take The Practice Revenue Diagnostic, a free six minute assessment that shows you which of the five stages you're actually in and the one thing holding it there. Growth doesn't ask you to have it all figured out, it asks you to stop hiding the parts of you that are still becoming. Maternal mental health counselor Allison Davis has spent her career researching exactly what it costs when nobody names that. In this episode of The Wellness CEO Evolution, I am joined by Allison Davis, an author, scholar, and maternal mental health counselor whose work sits at the intersection of motherhood, trauma, ecological crisis, and care. Allison shares how she built a telehealth practice to reach mothers in states where perinatal support barely exists, why she believes motherhood deserves the same developmental respect we give adolescence, and how her own unsupported transition into parenthood became the research question that shaped her entire career. Together, we explore matrescence, maternal eco-distress, the real economics of running a practice inside and outside the insurance system, the grief that lives inside every milestone a child outgrows, and the nature based practices she leans on so the work doesn't hollow her out. If you have ever felt like your practice, your business, or your own growth got shelved the moment you became responsible for someone else's, this conversation will meet you there. Listen to this episode of The Wellness CEO Evolution: Matrescence, Eco-Distress, and Building a Maternal Mental Health Practice with Allison Davis P.S. If you already know your number's been sitting in the same place for two years, I built something for you. It's a short diagnostic, takes about six minutes, and it'll tell you which of the five stages you're actually in and the one thing that's holding it. It's free. Go find out where you are. Allison Davis is an author, scholar, and maternal mental health counselor who runs a telehealth private practice serving mothers across two states, with a focus on matrescence, the developmental period of becoming a mother. She teaches eco-psychology in the mythological studies program at Pacifica, and her research examines the intersection of motherhood and ecological crisis. Allison treats birth trauma using EMDR and trains providers to run nonclinical mothers' groups that offer support without pathologizing the ordinary struggles of matrescence. Her forthcoming book releases November 4th, and pre-orders through her website include a bonus workbook of expressive ecotherapy resources not available afterward.
