EP. 77 - Nechama Hordiner on the Courage to Play
Nechama Hordiner is an artist, educator, and the new marketing director at Tzohar Seminary for the Art and Chassidus. Tzohar makes space for creativity, self-expression, and deep personal exploration. In this episode of Orange Socks, Nechama shares her own journey from arts high school in Toronto to becoming religious, and the struggle she experienced trying to reconcile those two parts of herself. Our conversation moves from art and education into something much bigger: the importance of play. Nechama challenges our obsession with results and asks what might happen if we gave ourselves permission to create, explore, and even fail without needing to know where it will lead. We talk about individuality, raising children, finding your own way to serve Hashem, and learning to listen—to ourselves and to the people around us. It’s a wonderfully open conversation about letting go of the need to always get it right—and rediscovering the courage to play. As always, it’s about finding your orange socks by leaning into who you already are.
