Sermon Podcast | Reflections on the Cross | Rev. Nadia Mullin
Recorded on Sunday, 08/16/26 | Scripture Readings: 1 Peter 2:24 and Luke 9:23-24 | The cross is one of the most recognized symbols in the world, but familiarity can cause us to lose sight of its true meaning. Jesus carried our sin, our guilt, and our brokenness in His own body so that we could be forgiven and made whole. That gift of grace is not something we earn. It is something we receive. In response, Jesus calls us to take up our cross daily, choosing His way over our own comfort and convenience. This is not one dramatic moment but a thousand small decisions made every day. Denying yourself does not mean you are worthless. It simply means Christ becomes the center rather than self. The cross is both a gift and a calling, reminding us that we are forgiven, we are loved, and we are shown how to live.| This sermon is the 6th in our Summer Sermon Series: Singing Our Faith | PPC Members were invited to recommend their favorite hymns. This week's favorite hymns were "The Old Rugged Cross," “O Sacred Head, Now Wounded" and "Beneath the Cross of Jesus."
