前回は里山に住む隣人としてお猿さんについてでしたが、今回はイノシシについてのお話です。 昨今、獣害被害の一角として非常に名高い彼らは、犬の何倍もの嗅覚と非常に高い知能を併せ持つ動物です。特に老齢な個体はもののけ姫にでてくるおっことぬしを彷彿とさせるような風格があります。 また、馬力もすさまじくワイヤーメッシュなどはいとも簡単に破壊できますし、彼らが掘りまわしたあとの畔や畑は見るも無残でまるで天然のトラクターです。

都会で暮らしていた頃は、サルはわざわざ観に行く存在でした。それが今や、思わず挨拶したくなるほど身近な存在になってしまいました。もはや隣人レベルです。 野菜を取られたり、果実をとられたり、実害が無ければ全くもってかわいいやつらですが、やつらも生きるのに必死ですからなかなかそういうわけにはいきません。 サルが身近な存在になって久しいですが、こうなったのはどうやら我々人間の影響が大きいようで、自業自得といえばその通りなのかもしれません。 対策方法は色々と模索されて推奨されるやり方もあるようですが、現場は手が回らないのが現実です。なぜなら人間より獣たちの方が圧倒的に多くなってしまいましたから。里はもはや人の手にはありません。取り戻す力もありません。 改めて自然に住まわせてもらっているということを自覚し、できることを少しずつやって獣たちと共栄していく道を探していこうと思います。
