How Technology Is Fueling Child Exploitation
Aug 10, 202637 minS1
Investigative journalist and author Christine Dolan joined Not On My Watch for a sobering conversation about the evolving threat of human trafficking and child exploitation. Drawing on more than 25 years of investigative experience, Dolan revealed how technology has transformed the ways predators identify, groom, and exploit vulnerable children. From social media and messaging platforms to online pornography and artificial intelligence, predators now have unprecedented access to young people. Dolan explained how traffickers study a child’s vulnerabilities and use attention, affection, opportunity, or the promise of safety to build trust and gain control. The conversation also highlights the lasting trauma experienced by survivors and the importance of listening to those who courageously pursue truth and justice. Dolan’s book, Shattered Innocence: A Shared Global Shame , takes readers inside her decades-long investigation into modern slavery, exposing how technology, greed, power, and corruption have enabled exploitation to spread across borders. Her message is urgent: no family is immune, and protecting children requires awareness, involvement, and vigilance. On the latest episode of Not On My Watch , host April Moss welcomes Frank Russo, Georgia State Director for Right On Crime , for an important conversation about prosecuting human traffickers, holding buyers accountable, and protecting survivors. Russo discusses the meaningful steps taken by the Trump Administration to combat human trafficking and support victims, while explaining why laws must continue to evolve as predators increasingly use technology to target and exploit children. Russo also examines the need for stronger criminal penalties for online exploitation, survivor-centered reforms, and greater cooperation among federal, state, and local law enforcement. From training businesses and community members to recognize warning signs to ensuring that victims are not punished for crimes they were forced to commit, Russo emphasizes that America must combine aggressive prosecution with compassionate protection for survivors. Help Her Be Brave: Amy Ford on Faith, Grace, and Unexpected Pregnancy
Jun 23, 202628 minS1
Amy Ford, founder of Embrace Grace, joined Not On My Watch to share how her organization is transforming the way churches respond to women facing unexpected pregnancies. With support groups now operating in more than 1,200 churches across all 50 states, Embrace Grace equips local congregations to provide practical, emotional, and spiritual support to mothers and fathers navigating unplanned pregnancies. Ford emphasized that many women fear judgment from the church during a crisis pregnancy, but her mission is to ensure that every woman has a safe place to turn for grace, encouragement, community, and hope. Drawing from her own experience of becoming unexpectedly pregnant at age 19, Ford shared the powerful story that inspired her to launch the ministry. She spoke candidly about the fear, shame, and isolation many women experience, while reminding listeners that an unexpected pregnancy does not mean the end of their dreams. Through church-based support groups, baby showers, mentorship, and discipleship programs for both mothers and fathers, Embrace Grace seeks to demonstrate God's love in tangible ways. Ford's message was clear: no woman should walk through an unexpected pregnancy alone, and every child is a gift worthy of celebration. Visit https://www.embracegrace.com/ to learn more. No Trafficking Zones: Taking Back Our Schools and Communities
May 28, 202638 minS1
In this episode, Jacquelyn Aluotto, Co-Founder of No Trafficking Zone, details the groundbreaking work her organization has done to transform vulnerable spaces into active “No Trafficking Zones” through legislation, enforcement initiatives, and strategic partnerships. From schools and foster care facilities to universities, sports stadiums, and major entertainment venues, No Trafficking Zone has pioneered real-world systems designed to deter traffickers, strengthen criminal penalties, and protect children before exploitation occurs. Aluotto explains how the landmark No Trafficking School Zone Act in Texas established enhanced felony penalties for traffickers targeting children in and around schools, school-sponsored activities, and through digital grooming tactics conducted online. The conversation also explores the organization’s expansion into large-scale sporting events and entertainment venues, where No Trafficking Zone has worked alongside law enforcement and response teams to monitor trafficking activity and combat exploitation tied to high-demand events. In this episode of Not On My Watch , April Moss sits down with Leah Stauffer, founder of Half A Million Kids , to confront a sobering reality facing vulnerable children across the United States. With hundreds of thousands of children in the foster care system, many lacking stability and consistent oversight, Stauffer explains how systemic breakdowns are creating dangerous conditions that can lead to exploitation and trafficking. Stauffer outlines a bold, three-phase plan designed to course correct the system, beginning with a technology-driven solution to modernize outdated processes, support overwhelmed caseworkers, and improve real-time matching between children and families. From the caseworker crisis to the lack of reliable data, this conversation sheds light on the root causes behind the system’s failures and offers a clear, actionable path forward to place more children into safe, loving homes.
