Your Elizabeth Holmes & Nathan Fielder Homework
This week we're getting you prepped for what might be the most secretive documentary ever made. You Can See Everything i s a new A24 documentary directed by Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim . Thirty-four days before Elizabeth Holmes was sent to prison for conspiracy and wire fraud, she invited Nathan Fielder into her home to film her every move. And the buzz around this film was instant – the trailer scene is already a meme. We think this is one of the most exciting and genuinely baffling documentary concepts we've witnessed. So before we all watch it, we're assigning homework. We break down five facts about Elizabeth Holmes – the Stanford dropout who founded Theranos aged 19, raised over $700 million from investors including Rupert Murdoch , claimed to have revolutionised blood testing with a product that didn't actually work – and five facts about Nathan Fielder , the Canadian comedian whose entire career has been about what happens when you blur the lines between performance and reality in the most absurd of ways possible. Why does this pairing matter? Because Nathan Fielder has spent his career studying performance, authenticity and the ethics of manipulating reality. And Elizabeth Holmes has spent her career performing a version of herself while insisting it's all completely real. Putting them in a room together for 34 days is both genius and deeply uncomfortable. We also recommend what to watch before the documentary drops, including The Dropout starring Amanda Seyfried and The Inventor: Out for Blood in Silicon Valley , as well as Nathan For You and The Rehearsal Season 2. You Can See Everything is theatrically released by A24 on October 16 in America. Australian times have not been announced yet. We can't wait.
