Ep. 97 Pivoting to Politics with Trajan Jones
What happens when your next pivot leads you into public service? On this episode of Pivot with Dr. Malaika, I sit down with Trajan Jones, candidate for Pennsylvania State Representative in the 62nd District, for a conversation about community, leadership, public service, and what inspired him to step into the political arena. I’ve known Trajan since he was in high school, so this conversation gave me an opportunity to explore not only why he decided to run for office, but also the experiences and values that have shaped his journey. One moment that really stood out came when I asked how young people can become more involved in their communities. Trajan offered a simple but powerful perspective: “Frame your activism with your interest.” In other words, getting involved doesn’t have to look the same for everyone. What are you interested in? What matters to you? That may be the very place where your voice can make a difference. We also talk about what it means to pivot into politics, his vision for serving his community, and why involvement at the local level matters. Whether you’re interested in politics or simply navigating your own season of change, this conversation is a reminder that sometimes your next chapter begins when you recognize where your interests, experiences, and opportunity to serve come together.
