Rethinking Rural Mobility: Can Cycling Deliver?
Can cycling provide a practical form of everyday transport in rural communities? Giles K Bailey is joined by Isobel Duxfield of Campaign for Better Transport, mobility consultant Beate Kubitz and Thomas Hayden-Lefebvre, Editor-in-Chief of the Green Mobility Magazine, to examine the prospects for utility cycling in rural areas across the UK and Western Europe. The panel discusses the condition of rural public transport, the infrastructure needed to make everyday cycling viable, the contribution of e-bikes and other micromobility options, safety concerns, financing andpolitical support. It also considers what local authorities, employers, transport operators and community organisations can do to provide rural residents with greater mobility choice. This webinar accompanies Giles K Bailey’s recently published book, Can Cycling Deliver a Modern and Sustainable City?
