Episode 56: The Co-Chairs' conversation, with Claire Lish and Dr Dawn H. Nicholson
The ABP has recently introduced a new shared leadership model which replaces its long-standing single Chair model. In conversation here with Rob Feltham, Co-Chairs Dr Dawn Nicholson and Claire Lish explain the rationale for the change of leadership approach. They talk about their priorities for the ABP and their longer-term aspirations for the wider business psychology field. And they answer questions submitted in advance by ABP members. Topics discussed include: the ABP’s focus on guardianship and growth and what that looks like in practice; the relevance, impact and credibility of the Business Psychology profession and how to further enhance it; and the ABP’s focus on developing early career talent and giving new psychologists a sense of professional belonging. The questions submitted by members prompt discussion around: the most valuable insights that business psychology brings to the workplace; the importance of putting evidence-based human psychology front and centre in work and organisational design; and the pre-requisites of healthy psychologist-client relationships where psychologists can both make a difference and appropriately challenge. Dr Dawn H. Nicholson is Co-Chair of the Association for Business Psychology, founder and lead of the ABP’s Biz Psych Cup, and heads of the ABP’s university accreditation programme.
