Gunnison Copper expands $15M drill program as metallurgical testing accelerates
Gunnison Copper Corp CEO Craig Hallworth and Melissa Mackie, Vice President of Investor Relations and Communications joined Steve Darling from Proactive to provide an update on the company’s district-wide 2026 drill program at the Gunnison Copper Project in Arizona, with work focused on metallurgical optimization, resource expansion, resource conversion and defining the broader mineralized system. The company currently has two drill rigs operating on site, with the initial phase of metallurgical drilling at the Gunnison deposit now complete. Core samples have been collected and submitted to independent laboratories for analysis, with the results expected to support the company's ongoing metallurgical optimization work. Metallurgical drilling has now shifted to the Strong & Harris deposit, while the company has significantly expanded its column leach testing program. A total of 405 column leach tests are now planned, up from the previously planned 270, with 68 tests currently underway. The program has also been expanded to include 63 flotation tests designed to evaluate the potential recovery of copper, zinc and silver from sulfide ores and assess flotation as a potential processing option for the sulfide zones. Hallworth and Mackie also highlighted progress on a new core logging and storage facility, which is expected to be completed in September. Once operational, the facility will allow Gunnison Copper to significantly increase its drilling capacity, with the company planning to move from two rigs to six drill rigs in September. The expanded campaign will target several key objectives across the Gunnison and Strong & Harris deposits. These include optimizing metallurgical recoveries, testing extensions of known mineralization, identifying new mineralized zones, converting inferred resources toward measured and indicated categories, and further defining the district-scale mineralized system. The company is also investigating the potential for additional carbonate replacement deposits beneath cover, similar to the Strong & Harris discovery, which could further expand the resource potential across the broader district. The 2026 drill campaign is expected to include up to 120 drill holes totaling approximately 138,000 feet, or 42,000 metres, representing an investment of more than US$15 million. Of that program, up to 36 metallurgical drill holes will cover approximately 33,000 feet, or 10,000 metres, supported by up to 405 column leach tests and 63 flotation tests. A further 84 resource expansion and conversion holes, totaling approximately 105,000 feet, or 32,000 metres, are planned across the Gunnison and Strong & Harris deposits. #proactiveinvestors #gunnisoncoppercorp #tsx #gcu #otcqb #gcumf #Copper #MiningNews #CopperMining #ResourceExpansion #ExplorationDrilling #CriticalMinerals #ShareholderValue #MineDevelopment #EnergyTransition #Metallurgical drilling
