50: Why One Trigger Can Make Your Whole Life Feel Wrong
Aug 13, 202642 min
What happens when one frightening experience sends your nervous system into overdrive—and suddenly your entire life seems like the problem? This week, I have a story for you. It involves three enormous, jet-black German Shepherds, a very angry dog named Jana, a staircase, a bedroom door I was desperately trying to get my ass behind...and a nervous system that completely crashed afterward. But what happened next became an unexpected lesson in everything I teach. After the immediate danger had passed, I noticed my mind spiraling into thoughts that had absolutely nothing to do with what had happened. My business wasn't far enough along. I should be making more money. Why couldn't I focus? Why didn't I have my shit together? Why had the last ten years been so hard? Nothing about my life had suddenly changed. My nervous system had. In this episode, we explore what happens when dysregulation changes our perception, why the mind searches for evidence to explain what the body is feeling, and how to distinguish between a thought that's giving you information and one that's giving you instructions. You'll also hear how understanding Jana's behavior helped me move from fear toward compassion—without abandoning my own boundaries in the process. We talk about: Why one trigger can make everything feel wrong What happens after the immediate threat is gone Why behavior doesn't happen in a vacuum How changing the environment can change behavior Why understanding someone doesn't require tolerating unsafe behavior The difference between compassion and self-abandonment How we actually "close the loop" after a triggering experience What real-time healing looks like when life gives you an opportunity to practice it And perhaps the biggest reminder: When everything suddenly feels wrong, check your nervous system before you check your life. Because healing isn't erasing what happened. Maybe it's changing what happens next. Why do so many people feel like they're changing? Lately, I've noticed the same conversation happening over and over again. People tell me... "I don't know what's happening to me." "My old life doesn't fit anymore." "The things I used to care about don't matter like they used to." In this episode of (re)Parenting Radio , we explore why so many people are experiencing this shift and why I don't believe it's a sign that something is wrong. Whether you see it through psychology, neuroscience, spirituality, or simply life experience, many of us seem to be asking the same questions: Who am I beneath the conditioning? What patterns have been running my life? What actually matters now? We explore: • Why so many people feel disconnected from the lives they once built • The difference between familiarity and emotional health • Why identity shifts feel uncomfortable • How subconscious patterns shape our reality • The relationship between nervous system regulation and authenticity • Why awareness may be the beginning of a much deeper transformation Maybe you're not becoming someone new. Maybe you're remembering who you've always been beneath the conditioning. Why does being misunderstood hurt so much? For many of us, it's not simply because someone doesn't "get" us. It's because, somewhere along the way, our nervous system learned that being understood meant being safe, accepted, or loved. As children, it made sense. We depended on the adults around us to see us, protect us, and respond to our needs. But what happens when we carry that same need into adulthood? In this episode of (re)Parenting Radio , I share a powerful breakthrough from one of my clients who spent years trying to get her mother to understand her. Then one conversation changed everything. Not because her mother changed... Because she did. We explore: • Why being misunderstood can feel so emotionally painful • The difference between understanding and agreement • Why over-explaining is often a subconscious protection pattern • How emotional safety shifts from external validation to internal regulation • What it means to stop abandoning yourself while trying to convince someone else Sometimes freedom doesn't come from finally being understood. Sometimes it comes from realizing you no longer need to be. 47: Why Family Still Triggers You (And How to Handle It)
Jul 23, 202624 min
Have you ever noticed that you become a completely different version of yourself depending on who you're with? Maybe you're confident at work, but quiet around your parents. Maybe you're relaxed with friends but suddenly become the peacemaker at family gatherings. You're not imagining it. In this episode of (re)Parenting Radio , we're exploring why family has a unique way of activating old emotional patterns—and why that's actually one of the greatest opportunities for healing. We'll talk about: • Why family gatherings bring out your inner child • The difference between your personality and your patterns • Why triggers, emotions, and reactions are information—not problems • How your nervous system predicts familiar experiences • Why awareness always comes before change • The simple shift that turns family gatherings into opportunities for growth Healing isn't about never getting triggered again. It's about noticing your patterns with compassion and choosing something different one moment at a time. Because you're not broken. You're patterned. And patterns can be changed. This week I attended a conference where the conversation centered around childhood literacy, declining reading scores, shrinking attention spans, and the growing influence of screens. I agreed with every bit of it. But I couldn't stop asking a different question... What are we programming our children with when they do read? Because children don't just learn from books. They learn from the stories we tell. The stories we live. The emotions we model The relationships they witness. The patterns they experience every single day. In this episode, we explore: Why the first eight years of life matter so much How repeated experiences shape the subconscious mind Why stories become emotional blueprints The connection between childhood programming and adult patterns Why I wrote Courage Finds His Calm How awareness allows us to interrupt patterns before we pass them on Whether you're raising children, working with children, or simply trying to understand yourself a little better, this conversation is ultimately about the stories that shape us all. Because children are always reading something. And awareness gives us the opportunity to become more intentional about what they're learning. You're not broken. You're patterned. And patterns can be changed. If you have a concern about deliverability, AI quality, data privacy, or whether this will actually work for your specific situation, it's probably answered below.
What is the difference between Founder Solo and Founder Pro?
Founder Solo gives you 50 AI pitches per month using the credit model (Standard pitches cost 1 credit, Enriched pitches cost 2). Founder Pro raises that to 200 credits per month and adds full Booking Probability access, unlimited Magic Match, Apollo enrichment credits, and data export capabilities. How do agency tiers work?
Agency tiers have no base fee. You pay per managed client and per talent profile. Agency Standard is $199 per client per month; Agency Pro is $399 per client per month. Both add $39 per talent profile per month. Your own team's user seats are always free.
What is a talent profile?
A talent profile represents one person (founder, executive, or spokesperson) you are booking onto podcasts. It includes their bio, topics, headshots, and outreach history. Team plans include 5 profiles; agency plans are pay-as-you-go.
