I forgot becomes I'm irresponsible. I need help becomes I'm incompetent. I need to say no becomes I'm selfish. Someone is disappointed becomes I've failed them. But what if none of that is character evidence? What if it's capacity information? In this episode of Reality Check My Life , we're separating responsibility from capacity—and challenging the idea that loving something, choosing something, or being responsible for something automatically gives us the resources necessary to carry it. Because responsibility can create urgency. It cannot manufacture infinite capacity. You can love someone and not have what they need from you. You can value your home and struggle to maintain it. You can believe deeply in a dream and be unable to personally provide all the labor required to build it. Wanting to carry something doesn't increase your carrying capacity. Loving something doesn't make it weightless. Before you decide you need to become more capable, maybe it's time to ask whether the load itself is reasonable.
