Title: Being Responsible vs. Trying to Be God --- 0:00 Introduction 0:25 Isn't Every Decision an Attempt to Control the Outcome? 6:29 Influencing Outcomes vs. "Making Sure" of an Outcome 15:32 Ecclesiastes Makes Me Feel Like There's No Point 27:01 What's Next --- Ecclesiastes 7:13–15 Consider the work of God: who can make straight what he has made crooked? In the day of prosperity be joyful, and in the day of adversity consider: God has made the one as well as the other, so that man may not find out anything that will be after him. In my vain life I have seen everything. There is a righteous man who perishes in his righteousness, and there is a wicked man who prolongs his life in his evildoing. (ESV) --- Pastor Jed, Pastor Isaias, and Jason discuss how Ecclesiastes 7:13–15 challenges our desire to control the future. Christians should make wise choices, pursue good, and work for good outcomes. Yet faithfulness does not give us the power to guarantee results. Prosperity and adversity both remain in God’s hands, and painful outcomes do not automatically mean we acted wrongly. Instead of giving up when righteousness seems unrewarded, we can keep doing what is good, live faithfully in the present, and trust God’s character, compassion, and eternal purposes. --- Berean Bible Church is a non-denominational church in East Knoxville, TN.
