Jalen Hurts and the Eagles Have Given Philly A LOT to Appreciate
After an ugly Monday night loss to Chicago, the criticism of Jalen Hurts and the Eagles offense is getting loud again. The offense looks stale. Hurts has limitations. And Philadelphia certainly has things that need to improve. But maybe this is also a good time for a little perspective. In this episode, I step away from the Bears game itself and look at what the Eagles have actually accomplished with Hurts at quarterback. Philadelphia has reached two Super Bowls in the last five years, won one of them, and Hurts performed at an elite level on the sport’s biggest stage both times. He’s also dealt with constant turnover at offensive coordinator while continuing to lead a team that regularly finds itself playing meaningful football late in the season. That doesn’t mean Hurts is beyond criticism. It doesn’t mean Eagles fans have to enjoy watching an offense that can occasionally become a slog. But how high should the expectations really be? The offense doesn’t have to be perfect, and neither does Hurts. Philadelphia has already experienced two Super Bowl runs, a championship and some unforgettable moments with him at quarterback. There’s still plenty of football ahead. This episode is simply a reminder to enjoy the ride and appreciate just how difficult it is to accomplish what Hurts and the Eagles have already accomplished.
