Episode #90
Lucas Pina and Bubba Indorato: North Atlantic Traders
Jul 11, 20261h 50mS7
Thank you for tuning into the SeaBros Fishing Podcast! On this episode we met up with Lucas Pina and "Bubba" Indorato of North Atlantic Traders at the Monahan's Marine Tackle Shop Lounge. For those of you unfamiliar with North Atlantic Traders (NAT), they are one of the primary tuna buyers in New England, and one of the largest tuna buyers in the United States. The company began in 1994, and has has grown from one man and a truck to a fleet of drivers that spread out across the Northeast. When the domestic tuna season is closed, NAT also works with their international partners to source tuna to insure reliable year-round access to product. Lucas is the general manager at NAT, and is responsible for grading and selling tuna and other fish throughout the season. Bubba is one of NAT's veteran truck drivers. You may have had Bubba pickup a fish from you, or you may have seen him on Nat Geo's Wicked Tuna. We have personally been selling our tuna to NAT since Mass Bay Guides was started by our father in 1999. Working with Lucas, Bubba, and the other crew at North Atlantic Traders has been a pleasure. We truly feel they have always been fair and always work their hardest to ensure our fish are treated appropriately and given the best opportunity possible at market. In this conversation we talk about all aspects of selling tuna. We discuss how fishermen should be treating their fish, how the fishery has evolved over the years, how the slower tuna fishing north of Cape Cod in 2025 impacted business, and we squash several conspiracies that some fishermen historically have with tuna buyers. Lucas and Bubba are finest kind and we hope you enjoy this conversation with Mark as much as we did! Stay Tight, The Sears Brothers Monahan's Marine Serving the South Shore's Boating Community.
