S3Ep13 | Grace: A Holy Offense | The Kind Of Encounter That Leaves A Mark
In this episode, a humbling fall at a summer party is tied to Naaman, whose pride was offended by Elisha's simple instruction to wash in the Jordan. Today, we talk about the contrast of self-sufficiency vs humble obedience. Drawing on 2 Kings 5 and James 4:6–10, we see how the gospel humbles us, reveals God's grace to the lowly, and invites listeners to receive salvation by faith, not effort. This is a glorious truth that we must never become too familiar with! Grab that coffee, open your heart and jump in on today’s encouragement! ➡️ Feedback/questions? Anything else? He was a mighty man of valor, but he was a leper.” • 2 Kings 5:2-4, “Now the Syrians on one of their raids had carried off a little girl from the land of Israel, and she worked in the service of Naaman’s wife. She said to her mistress, “Would that my lord were with the prophet who is in Samaria! He would cure him of his leprosy.” So Naaman went in and told his lord, “Thus and so spoke the girl from the land of Israel.” • 2 Kings 5:7, “And when the king of Israel read the letter, he tore his clothes and said, “Am I God, to kill and to make alive, that this man sends word to me to cure a man of his leprosy? Only consider, and see how he is seeking a quarrel with me.” • 2 Kings 5:9-10, “So Naaman came with his horses and chariots and stood at the door of Elisha’s house. And Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, “Go and wash in the Jordan seven times, and your flesh shall be restored, and you shall be clean.” • 2 Kings 5:11-12, “But Naaman was angry and went away, saying, “Behold, I thought that he would surely come out to me and stand and call upon the name of the LORD his God, and wave his hand over the place and cure the leper. Are not Abana and Pharpar, the rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? Could I not wash in them and be clean?” So he turned and went away in a rage.” • 1 Corinthians 1:27-29, “But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, so that no human being might boast in the presence of God.” • Acts 16:30-31, “Then he brought them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” And they said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.”
