Chaos and Christ
Scripture: Matthew 14:22–33 Fr. Michael reflects on Matthew 14 and the story of Jesus walking on the water, asking why the early Church remembered not only Christ's power over the wind and waves, but also Peter's failure in the midst of the storm. The wind and waves of life are real, and following Jesus does not mean we will escape them. But when chaos surrounds us, we can keep our eyes fixed on Christ—the one who brings order to chaos, whom the wind and waves obey, and who will see us safely through the storm. Rather than waiting until life is at its hardest, we can begin now to develop habits of prayer, Scripture, and Christian community that teach us to keep our focus on Jesus.
