My 10-Year-Old Texted Me at 5AM... Here's Why It Worried Me
My 10-year-old messaged me at 5am this week. The message itself wasn't the issue. The fact she was awake and had easy access to her phone was. It got me thinking about smartphones, social media, the government's proposed ban for under-16s, and whether legislation can ever replace parenting. In this episode I share my thoughts on setting boundaries, why I'm becoming more cautious around social media, and why I believe our job as parents isn't to be our children's friends—it's to prepare them for life. I'd genuinely love to hear your thoughts. What age do you think children should have a smartphone? And what age should they be allowed social media?
