What does it actually take to launch a satellite, operate a commercial space station, or build a business in low Earth orbit? In Space Business with Fexingo, Lucas and Luna strip away the sensationalism around billionaires and rockets to examine the real economics, engineering constraints, and regulatory fights that define the new space economy. Each episode picks a specific company — SpaceX, Rocket Lab, Planet Labs, Relativity Space, or a smaller player — and walks through its business model, unit economics, launch cadence, and competitive position. Lucas sketches the numbers: contract values, cost per kilogram, satellite constellation revenue projections. Luna pushes on the assumptions: who is actually buying these services? What happens when a launch fails? How do terrestrial industries like telecom, agriculture, and insurance depend on space infrastructure? They cover the full stack: from rocket engine suppliers and launch site politics to satellite manufacturing, ground stations,

Space-Based Spacecraft Servicing Becomes a Real Business
Aug 21, 20268 minS4
In this episode, Lucas and Luna explore the emerging business of on-orbit satellite servicing—repair, refueling, and life extension. They break down why the economics are finally shifting, using the example of a 2024 mission to extend the life of a geostationary satellite. They discuss the cost calculus for satellite operators, the insurance implications, and the technical challenges that make servicing a different beast from manufacturing or launching. Lucas shares how the sector is attracting private investment, and Luna brings up the regulatory questions that could shape the market. A conversation about turning a high-risk space operation into a predictable commercial service, with a surprise beat about why the show stays ad-free and how listener support keeps it that way. #OnOrbitServicing #SatelliteRepair #SpaceBusiness #SpaceEconomy #MissionExtension #GeostationarySatellites #SpaceIndustry #OrbitalServices #SatelliteRefueling #SpaceTech #Business #Technology #CommercialSpace #SpaceInnovation #FexingoBusiness #BusinessPodcast #SpacePolicy #SpaceInvestment Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
Why Space Debris Removal Is Becoming a Real Business
Aug 20, 20269 minS4
In this episode of Space Business with Fexingo, Lucas and Luna explore the emerging market for orbital debris removal. They dive into the technical and economic challenges of cleaning up space, from the threat of Kessler syndrome to the business models of startups like Astroscale and ClearSpace. With over 30,000 tracked objects in orbit, the demand for debris removal services is growing, driven by the rise of mega-constellations and the increasing risk of collisions. The hosts discuss the current state of the industry, the regulatory hurdles, and the potential for a commercial market that could be worth billions. They also examine the role of government contracts and the importance of liability frameworks. Tune in to understand how a seemingly niche service is becoming an essential part of the space economy. #SpaceDebrisRemoval #SpaceBusiness #OrbitalDebris #CommercialSpace #Astroscale #ClearSpace #KesslerSyndrome #SpaceSustainability #SatelliteConstellations #SpacePolicy #SpaceTech #SpaceEconomy #InOrbitService #SpaceStartups #SpaceInnovation #BusinessAndTechnology #FexingoBusiness #BusinessPodcast Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
How Space Telescopes Are Becoming a Commercial Business
Aug 19, 20266 minS4
On this episode of Space Business with Fexingo, Lucas and Luna explore the emerging commercial market for space telescopes. They discuss how companies are moving beyond government contracts to offer dedicated observation platforms for climate monitoring, defense, and even astronomy enthusiasts. The conversation centers on the recent launch of a private telescope by a startup that promises high-resolution imaging for agricultural and environmental clients. Lucas breaks down the economics: launch costs down to $5,000 per kilogram, optical payloads now built in months, and data services that generate recurring revenue. Luna challenges the hype, asking about the actual market size and the competition from free government data. They also touch on the role of AI in processing imagery and the potential for space-based observatories to serve a growing customer base from insurance firms to city planners. If you've ever wondered who actually pays for a telescope in orbit, this episode gives you the numbers and the names. #SpaceTelescopes #CommercialSpace #SpaceBusiness #SatelliteImaging #EarthObservation #LucasAndLuna #FexingoBusiness #BusinessPodcast #Startup #AgTech #ClimateTech #DefenseTech #OpticalPayload #LaunchCosts #RecurringRevenue #DataAnalytics #SpaceTech #Investing Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
How Space-Based Collision Avoidance Became a Real Business
Aug 18, 202610 minS4
Space is getting crowded. With thousands of satellites launched in recent years and mega-constellations still expanding, the risk of collisions in orbit is no longer theoretical. In this episode, Lucas and Luna explore the emerging business of space-based collision avoidance services. They break down how companies like LeoLabs and Slingshot Aerospace are using ground-based radars and AI to track objects and sell data to satellite operators. Lucas explains the economics of the service, from subscription models to one-off conjunction assessments, and why insurance companies are starting to pay attention. Luna brings up the recent near-miss between a defunct Russian satellite and an active Starlink craft, highlighting how even a tiny miscalculation can cost millions. The hosts also discuss the challenge of getting accurate data from a fragmented tracking network and how new entrants are trying to solve it. If you've ever wondered who's actually watching the skies and how they get paid, this episode gives you the inside track. #SpaceBusiness #CollisionAvoidance #SpaceTrafficManagement #LeoLabs #SlingshotAerospace #Satellites #OrbitalDebris #SpaceSafety #ConjunctionAnalysis #SpaceData #SpaceIndustry #SpaceEconomy #SpaceTech #Business #Technology #FexingoBusiness #BusinessPodcast #SpacePodcast Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
How Space-Based Broadband Is Becoming a Real Business
Aug 17, 20267 minS4
In this episode, Lucas and Luna explore the rapidly maturing space-based broadband market, focusing on the recent consolidation among satellite internet providers and the strategic pivot toward enterprise and government customers. They examine how the economics of low-Earth-orbit constellations are shifting from consumer subscriptions to high-margin B2B contracts, and what this means for the future of global connectivity. With specific examples like the merger of two major operators and the growing role of direct-to-device services, the hosts break down why the race for orbital spectrum is heating up and how smaller players are finding niches. They also discuss the challenges of regulatory approval and the financial realities that are driving the industry toward fewer, larger players. The episode offers a clear-eyed look at where the business is heading and what it signals for the broader space economy. #SpaceBroadband #SatelliteInternet #LEOConstellations #SpaceBusiness #DirectToDevice #OrbitalSpectrum #SpaceEconomy #SatelliteMergers #EnterpriseConnectivity #GovernmentContracts #SpaceTech #BroadbandAccess #SatelliteOperators #SpaceInvesting #Business #Technology #FexingoBusiness #BusinessPodcast Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
