Episode 62 - Can you vaccinate people against misinformation? With Sander van der Linden
Getting research out into the world is a big part of what societies do, and so is making sure it lands responsibly and that people can trust it. So what happens when misinformation gets in the way? In this episode, we hear a cut of the keynote from our London Society Executive Seminar, from Sander van der Linden, Professor of Social Psychology in Society at the University of Cambridge. In line with the theme of the seminar, trusted research in transformative times, he shares details of his research into misinformation and how we can actually ‘vaccinate’ people against misinformation by exposing them to weakened doses and teaching them to identify when information is unreliable – a theory which works much in the same way that a vaccine does.
