67 | David Scott Gets a Haircut: Raising Capable Kids in a Digital World
David Scott is the founder of Earth Native Wilderness School, an outdoor education program helping children and adults reconnect with nature through wilderness skills, outdoor learning, and hands-on experiences. In this conversation, we explore what it means to raise capable kids in a world increasingly shaped by screens, convenience, and constant stimulation. David shares how boredom, age-appropriate risk, time outdoors, and practical life skills help build confidence, resilience, and curiosity in ways that can't be replicated in a classroom. Before founding Earth Native in 2011, David served on a Search and Rescue team in the Colorado Rockies and spent six years in the U.S. Army Military Police Corps. He is also a nationally recognized wildlife tracker and co-author of Bird Feathers: A Guide to North American Species . This episode is about much more than survival skills. It's about raising capable human beings.
