URBAN LEGENDS - THE TRUTH BEHIND THE STORIES
Some stories cling to us like fog - passed down through decades, retold in dimly lit rooms, and passed down as warnings, curiosities, or half-remembered nightmares. Hello Spooky Kooks and welcome to episode 50! In this episode we have picked our favourite Urban Legends to dive into and see if we think they are fact, fiction or sit in-between... From the eerie shadows of highgate cemetery to the quiet lanes of Kent, these tales have shaped local folklore, sparked media frenzies, and left behind mysteries that still feel unfinished. We go back to the beginnings of these infamous urban legends - The Highgate Vampire - a figure witnesses claimed drifted between tombs and igniting one of London's wildest paranormal panics. Bunny Man - The axe wielding stranger in a rabbit suit, turning an ordinary bridge into a legend. Spring Heeled Jack - The victorian terror who leapt rooftops and breathed blue fire. The Ghost of Bluebell Hill - the phantom hitchhiker who appeared at the roadside... and disappears in the passenger seat. Sewer Alligators - the rumour that convinced New York City something reptilian lurked beneath their streets. The Green Children of Woolpit - the medieval mystery of two children who seemed to arrive from nowhere, with unmistakably green skin. This episode blends folklore, history, eyewitness accounts and the strange real-world events that sparked each legend. These are some of our favourite Urban Legends - let us know yours in the comments and tell us, which ones do you think are fact, fiction or somewhere in-between.
