In 'Stagflation Conversations with Fexingo,' Lucas and Luna examine the return of an economic condition many thought buried with the 1970s: high inflation paired with stagnant growth. Each episode grounds the conversation in current data from major economies—CPI prints, GDP revisions, unemployment figures, and central bank statements—then draws historical parallels to the oil shocks, wage-price spirals, and policy missteps of the post-Bretton Woods era. Lucas, with a fountain pen in hand, traces the arc of a Minsky moment or a Volcker-style rate hike; Luna cross-references today's supply chain disruptions and labor market tightness against the archived charts spread before them. They never settle for surface-level parallel—instead, they argue about whether modern financialization changes the stagflation playbook, why the Phillips curve seems to have gone flat, and what a 'soft landing' actually requires. The listener who tunes in is someone who reads the economic indicators themselves,

Why Your Car Loan Feels Like 1981 in a 2026 Economy
Aug 18, 20269 minS4
Auto loan rates are hovering near generational highs even as the Federal Reserve hints at easing. In this episode, Lucas and Luna dig into the mechanics of how auto loan rates are set — and why they track the ten-year Treasury and used-car values more than the Fed's short-term policy rate. They break down the spread between new-car and used-car loans, the role of captive finance arms versus credit unions, and what the 4.1 percent unemployment rate and cooling job openings tell us about who's actually getting approved. With real GDP growth down to 1.5 percent annualized and core CPI still creeping up, the stagflation mix is squeezing both lenders and borrowers. If you're shopping for a car this August, the episode gives you a concrete sense of where rates sit, why they've been sticky, and what might finally move them. Plus, a brief note on how listener support keeps this show ad-free. #AutoLoans #CarFinancing #Stagflation #InterestRates #ConsumerCredit #UsedCarMarket #FedPolicy #Economics #Inflation #Lending #CreditUnions #CaptiveFinance #TenYearTreasury #GDPGrowth #Unemployment #FexingoBusiness #BusinessPodcast #FinancialLiteracy Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
Why Wage Growth Hasn't Turned Into a Wage-Price Spiral
Aug 17, 20268 minS4
In this episode of Stagflation Conversations, Lucas and Luna dig into a puzzle that's been nagging economists through the slow-growth summer of 2026: wages keep creeping up — average hourly earnings hit $37.60 in July — yet inflation isn't spiraling the way it did in the 1970s. They walk through the gap between nominal wage growth and real purchasing power, the role of sticky expectations, and why the Fed isn't panicking about a 4.1 percent unemployment rate. With CPI still slightly above target and the ten-year breakeven at 2.27, they ask whether the current calm is durable or just the lull before the next shock. If you've ever wondered why your paycheck feels bigger but your budget feels tighter, this one's for you. #WageGrowth #Inflation #Stagflation #LaborMarket #FederalReserve #CPI #Economics #Podcast #FexingoBusiness #BusinessPodcast #EconomicPolicy #WagePriceSpiral #RealWages #Unemployment #JulyCPI #AverageHourlyEarnings #BreakevenInflation #InflationExpectations Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
How Stagflation Is Reshaping the Pet Food Industry
Aug 16, 20269 minS4
On this episode of Stagflation Conversations, we look at how the pet food industry is navigating the twin pressures of high inflation and slow growth. With the latest CPI showing overall prices up 2.3% year-over-year while core inflation remains sticky, we dig into why your dog's dinner costs more even as the economy sputters. We discuss the shift from premium to value brands, the rise of private-label pet food, and how companies like Nestlé Purina and J.M. Smucker are adjusting their portfolios. We also explore the impact of higher ingredient costs and supply chain disruptions, and why pet owners are trading down without sacrificing quality. Tune in to understand the economic forces behind the pet food aisle and what they signal about consumer resilience in a stagflationary environment. #PetFoodIndustry #Stagflation #Inflation #ConsumerBehavior #PrivateLabel #NestlePurina #JMSmucker #SupplyChain #Economics #Business #Podcast #FexingoBusiness #BusinessPodcast #ConsumerGoods #RetailTrends #ValueBrands #PetOwners #EconomicTrends Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
In this episode of Stagflation Conversations, Lucas and Luna explore an unexpected bright spot in a slow-growth, high-inflation economy: silver. While gold grabs headlines, silver is quietly outperforming, driven by dual demand from investors and industrial users. We break down the numbers—silver prices hovering near $65 an ounce, the gold-to-silver ratio compressing, and what it means for your portfolio. We also touch on the latest CPI data showing core inflation still sticky at 336.8, and why silver's dual-use nature makes it a unique hedge in this environment. If you've ever wondered whether silver deserves a place alongside gold in your stagflation playbook, this episode offers a clear, data-driven look at the case for and against it. #Silver #Stagflation #Inflation #GoldSilverRatio #IndustrialDemand #PreciousMetals #Economics #Investing #Hedge #CPI #CoreInflation #SlowGrowth #FedPolicy #AssetAllocation #FexingoBusiness #BusinessPodcast #EconomicsPodcast #StagflationEchoes Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
Why Lettuce Prices Crashed While Inflation Lingers
Aug 14, 202610 minS4
In July 2026, the consumer price index ticked up to 332.8 while wholesale prices stayed flat—and lettuce prices plunged to record lows after a cyclospora scare. Lucas and Luna explore what this strange divergence tells us about the current stagflationary environment. They dig into the mechanics of fresh produce pricing, the role of food safety scares, and why the broader grocery basket remains sticky even as some items collapse. Along the way, they connect the dots to Federal Reserve policy, the bond market's inflation expectations, and what the data means for your wallet. If you've ever wondered why a single vegetable can make headlines while the overall inflation picture barely moves, this episode offers a clear, concrete explanation. Plus, a brief moment on how listener support keeps the show independent and ad-free. #LettucePrices #Stagflation #CPI #Inflation #FoodPrices #GroceryBasket #Cyclospora #FreshProduce #FedPolicy #BondMarket #Economics #Business #Podcast #FexingoBusiness #BusinessPodcast #EconomyExplained #JulyCPI #WholesalePrices Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
